So being that I have had poor internet connection for the last month, by the grace of god that I have managed to put up pics here.. I was working off my son's router signals from next door, but could not connect via that, and so have had a dial up back up... which is soooo slow...doh but I knew that...
Finally 2 weeks ago decided to get my own ADSL2 and waited all this time for this provider to send me a router... and today it arrived.

yay I thought.... wrong..very mad

This company knew all along when they sold me the plan and router, that Telstra had only given them 10 ADSL spots.. and I was number 11.. Did they think to tell me... NO... so all that carryon this morning, trying to figure out why I could not get this router to connect was a waste of time... Yes, they said ... send the router back.. very mad

So after I calmed down.. angel2 I decided to head down the hill to a Telstra shop... Waited in line for almost 30 mins. to put my name down on a sheet, told to come back in an hour or so... Great..

So I come back about 1.5 hrs later to wait for another hour to be served.. doh frustrated frustrated

and there is far more to this story, but I am tired just thinking about the carryon... misinformation continually...

The end is ... I have a 4G wireless thingo... and spent the last hour charging it and getting it to work... Finally...dancing

What a day... n I'm thinking, is it just me, or does anyone else have rough rides with companies and their misinformation...????

I have no idea...but then I dont have much choice with what I have here in the Valley, its all black spots... so as long as it works faster than dial up and dongle I am happy... so far , (one hour) its been fine.. wave

I just tried checking my wi-fi balance but it appears telstra is having a problem with there system

however merri
to check my balance i book-marked this address

usually that page will detect your wi-fi device and its account details then display the amount of credit you have remaining.
Try not to run out because then you cannot connect, better to recharge before that happens.

hope you like it

I think they have still dudded you Merri,
My Modem is a Bigpond 7.2 home network gateway, "wireless" samething with me blackspot area, $49.oo a month for 7gb`s. and is as quick as lightning......dunno confused

Oh PS, don't loose the devices box or the blue plastic card, box has the SIM Serial Number and telephone number of the device (the device has a mobile phone chip in it) you'll probably find you got a $20 mobile phone credit allotted to the number, the mobile phone number, to use the credit you carefully take the chip out of the device and put in any telstra mobile phone then you can use that $20 credit up talking on a phone, otherwise the credit will get lost on expiry of whatever time limit you purchased

She has just got the fastest 4G Broadband service available in Australia; major cities only.
Is a prepaid mobile phone network device, no bills, no need to even have a telstra account.

I use internet quite a lot and am hard pressed to use up 5 gig in three months. When i first purchased my 2G device i got 5gig with three months time on it. Then renewed with a 10gig block which is good for one whole year, eg you don't pay for 7gig for a month, use little more than 1gig and loose the rest which is certainly what would occur with the amount of access that i usually use. No no, the 10gig, which i probably get through in roughly 9 months is costing $1.47 per mb and good for one whole year

Any chance of putting that in English? Went to the 2 local Telstra dealers and the best deal I can get is 2 gig/month for $49/month, IF I link my Home Phone in as well. Optus (okay, I live in good service area) more than doubles that. They are talking about major movie download stuff each month, not just chat-time.

Geez guys, I can't believe what I'm reading. I think of Australia being a rich modern country and yet you guys are having so much trouble getting internet service. I guess I'm a spoiled brat who just calls the cable company, tells them what I want and I get it for a price. I'm sorry you're having so many problems with your internet.

BTW, hi Merriweather..wave Haven't seen you in ages. I guess that's because you don't come across that big lake anymore. I'll have to perve more on what you guys are chatting about...hug bouquet

P.S. I used to be Snuggs.

Go to this link, it is a 3G device, the 4G speed is only available in major cities and i think not much would be gained from purchasing the 4G.
My 2G is twice as fast as Telstra prepaid USB access stick. 3G is twice as fast as my 2G, 4G is more than twice as fast as the 3G. However telestra towers out in the country are limit the actual speed you get out of them.

The following device works anywhere your able to use a NextG Telstra Mobile phone, the device merri now has actually is assigned a mobile phone number, she is accessing the internet using Telstra Mobile telephone network.

Hello Snuggs..wave

Lovely to see you on our threads..

I guess our problem is that Telstra owns all the lines, and share them out with other providers, and that seems to cause a lot of problems..

How are you doing... ? You were in a bad way with your knee problems a way back if I remember rightly...Hope you are fine now..

cruiser appears to be saying, he is paying $49 per-month for 7gb, which means he is purchasing 84gb per annum, which I’ve no doubt per gb is a cheaper rate than the mobile prepaid. I think at best, I would not use more than 20gb in any one year.

As the bit cruiser doesn’t use in the allotted one month is lost i.e = gb disappears…from what I would call ordinary use (not running internet servers or half a doz kids each running play station 24/7)
I think at best, I would not use more than 20gb in any one year.
The rates Telstra is now quoting for a 12gb block, which is good for one year, is $180 and that works out your paying $1.46 per megabyte, however the good news is you get to use all block you have paid for.

Hi ah Rob... no tis not prepaid... Its a plan... $49.95 per month for 24 months.. and gives me 8G because my land line is with telstra. If I had owned a mobile - which I dont - It would have been $39.95

so, that's alright..
