curly28: Actually Daggs you are having us on now common $10.000 for 3 weeks in Tassy and $6.000 for one week in NZ Sounds like you have no concept of money

If you had said I had 3 weeks in UK or America at the cost of $10.000 that would be believable. I have been to Tassy with my ex two of us at the cost about $4.000 for two weeks and we had a lovely time no expense spared. yep you are confusing me
Try it with 4 kids and get back to me Curls

serene56: I Thailand, been there a couple of times and would go again in the blink of an eye.

The people are so friendly and once you get your head around the scams lol and get away from the tourist spots (and hawkers) you get to appreciate what a beautiful country it is.
It's good to live out in my wifes parents place and help them with their veggetable and rice fields, also helping them sell stuff at the local market.
Their pigs are lovely, they have unique personalities and let you know when they're hungry.
The riverside restaurants in bamboo huts where you sit on the bamboo mats are different, but the food is awesome.
Yes the people are all friendly and have the biggest smiles even if they have nothing in our sense of possessions, they have much more - happiness

daggyone: It cost me like $10,000 for a 3 week holiday in Tassie, $6,000 for a 4 week holiday in NZ and $1,500 for a 3 week holiday in Thailand travelling around and shopping too.

Jeez Daggy, I took my two boys to Tassie and stayed in hotels, toured and went on all the tourists things... went to Launceston and Cradle mountain, did horse riding, canoeing etc.. and It was no where near $10k ...

Did you get gold lined sheets and towels for that..???

each night was like $300 in a onsite cabin, think Strahan was the most expensive followed by Beauty Point. Then there's the cruise up the Gordon, cog railway from Queenstown, Tree top flying foxes, etc, etc... when there are six to pay for, everything costs more.
The difference in Thailand is the accomodation would be in a hotel at $99 instead of $300, the tours and outings all are a fraction of the cost and food for peanuts of what it costs here.
It's no wonder our tourist sector is languishing at the moment over pricing itself out of the market.dunno

The total accomodation was like $5,000+ at $300 night, we were there in peak season apparently.
I know the Gordon river cruise cost us $560, the Cog Railway was like $500 with the bus fare to get us there.
Add the Spirit of Tas 2 cabins and putting the car on return and things start adding up.

daggyone: Did you go to the temple in Chang Mai up in the hills? See and pat the Tigers at the Tiger Temple. I think placing your judgement on one tiny island off the Thai peninsula is quite harsh.
Everybody sees differently I suppose, I was in love and on my honeymoon so it may have been my rose coloured glasses that didn't see what you did?

Was just stating my prefrence and point of view I do know lots of people who like these cheap holidays including my family and friends. I was asked just recently will I go to Bali by my best friend I said no not interested. Not everyone has to like what you or other folks like and same goes for my likes and dislikes we are are all different freedom of choice. thumbs up
