went for a tour of the funeral services today as part of our volunteer meetings, last one for the year...compared to the last volunteer meeting there werent many of us there....i guess not so many ppl want to know about that sort of stuff...anyway i found it pretty good....i think it is something that i would rather find out about now than later on when i have no choice.....talked about natural burial.......pretty much buried in a cardboard box and a tree planted on top.....i told my dad id like a viking funeral.....he said NO....so i guess natural burial would be a good choice.....i wonder if u can get a Kauri tree planted on top?thank you hospice for letting me be part of ur teamhug

Me being an Atheist I have instructed my family the cost of disposing of my remains presant day cost is around $4 thousand dollars cheap as chips. They can do what they want with my ashes.

My dear friend whom was 86 when she passed away her being an atheist too she had a cheapo funeral no one attended , her ashes were given to us and we mixed her fave dog and goats ashes with her ashes and we all scattered them around the horse paddock. It was a windy day and the ashes blew all over my face it was an awesome way to say goodbye. wave total cost $4 thousand dollars it wasn't about the money she just didn't want a funeral and neither do I plus the thought of these greedy funeral mobs make way too much money on grieving family and friends.

Doesn't worry me what they do with me when I am dead, I believe or maybe hope innocent your soul moves on. I agree the price of burial is rediculous and have suggested the cheap option for me,the less they spend on me dead the more the family gets yay angel devil angel

Good thread wine

I also find the funeral and associated industries fascinating.

In trying to facilitate a career change some time back, I had a think about what industries would thrive regardless of economic ups and downs and the funeral industry not only interested me, but had the promise of stable employment.

Studied up on it and applied for several jobs but no luck, a very difficult industry to break into.

I'm gonna be buried with my Mum and big sis at a local lawn cemetery

On a number of occasions people have died just up above Eudlo, the teachers and long term students never ever notify the so called experts, AMA or others, until the person has actually departed.
Can take between 3 and 27 days after the final breath and heart has stopped before subtle energy has left body and entered the Bardo...

In this country most people going through the dying process, are stuffed into a freezer, have body parts removed, or are embalmed or in other way disturbed while subtle levels consciousnesses exists long before they would otherwise actually be dead

yea the mortician at this one started at the age of twelve on school work experience week, then when he was older volunteered at the same place for 6 months till they gave him an apprenticeship
