Martia: I am afraid camping is not my thing' prefer to go to the Whitsunday Islands like South Molle or Hamilton' that way I dont have to cook or anything just relax and swim in the beautiful aqua sea and go to the entertainment in the evening....

The Whitsunday, is beautiful, Got to have a lot of savings to stay there.
Stayed at Airlie Beach many years ago, just got the cat to the different islands. Got dropped Whitehaven beach, beautiful, white sands and clear waters.

LiLee: Good on you Kristia Great to see sisters doing it for themselves!!!!

I have often wished I had a camper trailer myself but when I looked into it the smallest one I could get was just over the limit of weight I can tow with my little car and thats unpacked.

Can't afford a bigger car AND a camper trailer just now.

I hope you have some wonderful adventures in yours.

The lady I got the camper from used to pull it with her Mazda3.

Kristia49: Wow, you'll need a mack truck

Only take what I need for a trip but love having the right gear for the trip. Nothing worse than going somewhere and having to 'make do.'

Having sleeping bags rated "-6" are great for the desert in winter and for Vic high country but too hot in summer or in the tropics. Same with my swags, although 1 is a double (just in case).

I have 1 fridge which is great for touring while the other is great for long stops. And eskies for overnighters if I use my old Land Rover.

And the 6 tents allows me have the right one for when I am travelling on my own, with 1 person, or staying for some time in one place.

And yes, I am jealous of your trailer. Looking at setting up one of mine if I don't manage to get the right vehicle for trips.

Kristia49: Such excitement to catch a nice fish. I have caught travali before and are such fighters to get them in.
As you know bait is quite expensive for what it is, here is an idea I use and catch some nice fish. sliced chicken breasts(bait size) rolled in salt and then put in the freezer. It doesn't actually go rock hard so your ready to fish.

All we had was one bag off ockie? Between two boats, I rigged up two circle hooks on a split rig with green whiting lures over the top of the eye off the hooks, but my boat has a fish finder? So I pulled up and did a drift over a structure that had fish around it, my mate in the boat was shocked when I tolled him to grab the net? But he really got excited when after landing the fish with his help on the net! I set up the same rig on his line, he was using all my gear other than his fake bait? Before that, if you new my brother-in-law, you could imagine the joy off his son and his stepson who was in my boat when I pulled the biggest fish that weekend, then when leaving the beach my little challenger pulled a 5mtr boat trailer off that beach over the sand dunes when his large Mazda BT50 got stuck! Pulling a 6x4 trailer, he has sold the Mazda now!

wash2u:

A few years back, went off for a month with a lady and it was tents and chairs and tables and bags and pillows and umpteen pots and pans dragged out every night and put away every morning.

Guess she must have forgot to pack the stereo, portable TV and remote?

wash2u: Mate and I do a lot of outback touring. Pull up, grab firewood and get it going, pull out 2 chairs and the table and have a beer. Cook meal and serve on paper plates (only need baby wipes to clean cutlery). Drag our swags out and sleep on the ground. String a tarp off the vehicle if it is wet.

With the camper-trailer, so much easier to just get things out when needed and put away when finished instead having everything being on top of each other and everything having to come out.

Some forget the real meaning of camping. I have a friend who brought a heater, aaahhh, couldn't believe her. told her she was a sook.laugh

No room for that. And busted the car aerial in NT so no music. No, she didn't even mention those things. Would sit by the fire after dinner for a bit then into the tent and have a bit of a read before sleeping. She actually said how good it was not to have a tv. And it wouldn't have worked out there anywayrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
