My Mum. She is the most wonderful woman I know. If I could be half the woman she is, I would be greatful. She is absolutely amazing.
jem1964: I never looked up to her in real life as she was inches shorted than me, but the person who has inspired me is a friend.
She was inspiring as everytime something tried to knock her down she just shook herself off and got back at it.
Double hip replacements at 20, had to learn to walk all over again
At 23 she was in hospital for months and declared likely to be a vegetable by US specialists
By 25 she was holding down a job as PA to a professor, by mid 30's owning her own home and having 1 hip out and learning to walk all over again, and then early 40's having a major car accident, and have you guessed... learned to walk all over again. Then after all that developed bladder cancer, it finally got her but not without a hell of a fight.
She has taught me the meaning of courage, determination and I am proud to have been able to be her friend and call her friend

I have a friend like that Gem and she is amazing ....alas she is in the uk but we still keep in touch' a few years ago went on holiday over there and met up again ...it was as if time had stood still' though all the hard knocks she was still smiling' an amazing person ... oh dear I still miss that beautiful soul' must call her.
