What do all the Aussie cricket fans think about Ricky's retirement?

Seems like he's been around for a long time and acheived amazing milestones in his career.

My fondest memories are from my teenage years watching Tommo and Lillee, Marsh and the Chappell brothers in the 80's. We only had two channels on the TV in our house and cricket was on the ABC all summer long. I have memories of long hot summers during the school holidays, snoozing in the cool on the lounge, with the commentators droning on in the background. Happy days. I really enjoyed the telemovie "Howzat, Kerry Packers War" recently released about the birth of the one day games around that time.

Who else has cricket memories???

WARNEY! WARNEY! WARNEY! Ha Ha! laugh

He is synonomous with Australian cricket?? So 'out of the box'?

So talented, but such a larrikin, a real charismatic person whether you love him or hate him he has left his mark on cricket. thumbs up

Can't say I agree with things that have gone on his personal life, but hell, what a great movie will be made of his life story??

Yep Lilee, watched the "Howzat" series, loved it, the guy who played Packer nailed him I thought? dancing

I enjoyed the cricket around Warne's time, McGrath, Ponting, Gilchrist and Lee and many others, they seemed to really enjoy their game and had some fun with the Poms in the Ashes comp. peace

Yeah sure will miss him,I remeber epic games with south africa,
with similar skilled player Jonty Rhodes, they were great matches,
I watched both these players similar top quality fielders and extremely
great with the bat.I was in hospital getting surgery and afterwards watched ricky ponting for first time playing southafrica in tri serires one dayers.Wish him all the best and hope we see more like this calibre preferably in New Zealand but of course in australia to.

I lost interest in cricket when Steve Waugh retired, we just don’t have the adds or the right meaning off the game anymore, we need the come on Aussie adds again! But then again sometimes there is just to much sport,

Lilee, you pick a good subject to talk about here with cricketgrin
as a kiwi it is always good to see him, and the rest of the team, not score many runs, mostly when against uslaugh
he has had a great run for sure and there is always respect for him with his skills as he brings up another 100, followed by some swearing that our bowlers didn't get him outlaugh

With his run of low scores lately, I do wonder if the selcetors had to drop him, but made him an offer to quit on his terms rather than end his run with just dropping him, so forced his hand to make this his last test and justifiy his selection for this test. There must be many player scoring more than he has lately.... just a thought

Well it looks like Ricky has had his last bat at the wicket today, out for 8 I think it was?? blues

Not a great way for a champion to go out - but it was 8 runs more than Bradman's last bat?

Ricky Ponting still has a brilliant record and will be remembered as one of the best. thumbs up

Bit like Greg Chappell. Was going towards the end of his batting time with sooooooo many low runs.

But he was still the best Aust Captain at the time. He may have been getting ducks but the Aussies still kept on winning under his leadershipdoh doh
