I cannot believe this' a silly prank went wrong and the nurse who passed them through to the ward has committed suicide ...now its front page everywhere and the two DJ's have been hung out to dry JMO but for her to do that there would have to be more to it than that, for instance' the gutter press in the UK would have started to get their fangs into this poor Nurse also the hospital would have had words with her I expect.

From what I have read the haters on Twitter and Facebook are also having a field day'I never go on Twitter' maybe once a month on Facebook' it seems that there is a section of the members on these sites that get great pleasure in sticking the boot in ...I cannot for the life of me understand why this is allowed to go on ...there they are just waiting and watching like Vulture's for the smell of blood then in they dive feasting on the kill.

I think these sites need to get some Moderator's maybe just like the ones on CS to sort it out. dunno sigh blues

There has to be more to the woman who committed suicide other than the prank like underlying problems which have been there for quiet some time and this prank just tipped her over. Yes it was stupid of those DJ's to do it , but again this sort of thing goes on all the time with DJ's. They need to look at the womans life and see if there are other underlying problems which also may have contributed to her death.

I do feel sorry for the DJ'S and for the womans family.

The Hospital should also take some of the blame here for not having tighter security too. JMO!

Hi Martia,

All I can say is there is more to this than a prank, just doesn't add up.

Feel so sorry for the dj's and the family of the nurse.

Its all about the politics.. You cannot have a sense of humour these days , i got fired from my last job for my sense of humour!

As far as im concerned , i think the Dj's were at fault. A nurse is a government job , and they have strict rules and policies , even if it was the queen herself on the phone , no details about the patient should have been released over an open phone line.

Yes , there may have been underlying problems that no-one knew about , but maybe what they did to her was the straw that broke the camels back.. who knows , her problems may have disappeared the very next day and she could be on top of the world again , and been able to accept a prank with no hard feelings , and share the laugh with the joke givers....

If it didn't go to air on the radio station it sure got great exposure on TV and in the newspapers. The world has become such a small place with global communication and perhaps the pressure of global embarrasment was too much for this poor woman to bear.

I feel sorry for the DJ's as they obviously never envisioned the outcome that took place.

It is a wake up call to all the media though, i think, that what may be just another news story to them can have a huge impact on ordinary peoples lives and they have some responsibility there.

You can't blame the poms for being a bit sensitive about harazment of the royals. Look what happened to Diana at the hands of the paparazzi.

All round its a terible outcome for what was an innocent prank. Unfortunately the humour of pranks comes at the embarrasment of some poor innocent person and this is what we laugh at. In this case that person was obviously in a fragile mental state for whatever reason.

Lets hope everyone involved gets the support they need to get through this terrible time.

So you blame the dj's is that correct. But in the next breath you say she was in a government job that has strict rules and policies, and that no details should have been released, but of course they were, Any one can ring any hospital even private and say they are a relation of the patient and get information,it's only in certain circumstances that the information is with held or at the patients request.

It is just a sad event that happened. When your time is up its up no matter how the death occurs. If it wasn't the dj's she may have got hit by a bus or run over.

Few things seem to stand out in this

* given the high profile of the patient i.e. future King's wife, I would have thought the security, especially something as simple as telephone enquiries would have ALL been screened by a member of their Personal Security?? A simple password could have been given to any close family??

* considering that the British Press has just been put through the wringers with the Leveson Inquiry largely due to them invading people's privacy, the same press who tapped into a dead child's voicemail messagebank?? Helloooo! pot-kettle? bit of double standards on their part.

* somebody, managerial status at least, gave the OK for this to go to air, not the DJ's.

No one could have predicted it would have such terrible consequences, prank calls are made every day - but it seems like permission was not given for the nurses's telephone call to go to air?

Sad for all concerned, especially the nurse's family, even Kate and William, this must have cast a dark shadow over what should be such a joyous time for them?

JMHO and yes definitely not the subject for ranters, ravers and nutters on some social media sites. Just adds to the pain of the people involved.

Yep at the moment everyone is passing the buck I think what newlife said hit it on the nail why wasn't there tighter security for the royals being all the problems the royals have had with the media over the years dunno hmmm sounds like they need to look at how things are run at the hospital re- security.

Never for a minute would anyone including the DJ'S think they would get through

That's the thing isn't it? The DJ's who made the call would not know if that nurse had already had a bad day/week whatever.

Dog died? Close family member recently passed away? Financial troubles? Who knows?

There is talk of a post mortem when more might come out? Doesn't really matter - nothing can bring her back to her family? sad flower

The dj's obviously pushed the point to make the gag work , i mean , whatever happened to patient/doctor confidentiality? I havent heard exactly what was in the prank , i mean , did they straight after they had finished the prank tell the person they had been " punk'd " , this may have stopped what happened from happening even. How would you feel if you played a practical joke on someone , but didnt let them know it was , then you find out they topped themselves , would you feel like you were to blame for what had happened? or would you shift blame to someone else. If i stuff up , i take the consequences.

I think it had to do with he culture... being Indian... they do not have our sense of humor and are far more likely to take pranks as serious... something they dont tend to do... is mix business and fun...

and its not the DJ's fault... its the station supervisor or whoever it was that approved this...

But the young DJ's are getting it really tough.. and I do feel very very sorry for them...

I do also feel very sorry for the nurse, her family and the flow on to Kate... who really did not need this .rose rose rose rose

Merri, you having a bit to do with the way HR works these days would realise how much something we see as being relatively innocent can be blown out of the water. Especially if some money can be made of it (talking about media sales here).

But as said before, there is a lot that hasn't been said, and probably never will.

When my daughter got badly hurt we had all types of nutters trying to get in to see her it got so bad we had a password ELVIS it worked like a charm, the press were great they just called me or the lady in charge of the media at the hospital ...thinking about it why the hell didnt anyone think to put those precautions in place as this is the future Queen we are talking about here.frustrated frustrated frustrated

Especially with the Royals, the protocals are very rigid in hospitals. Has to be more to this.

My son-in-law's Nan is at the stage of needing more care. He works in a hospital theatre himself and is not available 24/7. But the stupid hospital staff who have him as primary contact wait for him to call when something goes wrong don't pass on information. And then hardly give him any information when he just rings to see how she is going.frustrated

He rang the hospital one day, telling them he was going to grab some stuff from her place and is there anything special she needs.. "No problems. Be there in an hour and I will get her some clean stuff." Gets there and they had moved her to another hospital 2 hours earlier.doh

"Which hospital?"

"Our records show she was discharged 2 hours ago."

Which hospital has she gone to?"

"She has gone home."

"I was there 15 minutes ago and the place was empty."very mad very mad

"You will need to speak to the Social Worker about that."

"Can I see the Social Worker now?"

"No, she finished an hour ago."
very mad very mad mumbling very mad very mad

Now some big 6'3" bloke swearing like a trooper does seem to get some attention from Security. But as he had also worked in hospital security before, he did know a few of the guys. So 4 big blokes and 2 senior surgeons (who he did work for) confronting the staff did finally get an answer where she went. To another hospital.

Protocals should mean that the primary carer needs to be involved ever step of the way. And if my son-in-law is not available then my daughter is contactable at all other times. Nobody else, just them.

So these 2 young journalists seem to have been set up well and truly. No media outlet would ever broadcast a prank that went wrong, let alone one that did not have the right permissions to broadcast an interview/prank.

If I do some thing wrong and I know it is my fault I take the consequences,
But if I was to play a prank on some one and they were to take their own life I would feel horrible, but I would not take full responsibility for the death.

Regardless of how a person passes, when your number is up its up,their is no way to escape death.
