Blizzard14u: What’s with the women running to the doctors as soon as they get a runny nose? The only time I see a doctor is when I have broken a leg or something more serious like a ruptured appendix! Like after two days off real pain, at the end off my shift standing out the back with the boss and a few off the workmates having a beer! As you do! I said too the boss, I may need to go to hospital tomorrow morning as I have had a little pain in my side for two days now? After a few more beers the boss and the guys agreed I should see a doctor, so I had my appendix taken out at 1pm the next day,

You girls should just toughen up and get in touch with you manly side!

hmmm Might explain why woman live longer than men dunno

Trouble is that my doctor works less hours than me. Try to get to see him on my RDOs.........when I can actually have one. Supposed to be last Monday (for RDO) and my next RDO in March I will be away. Maybe get to see the doc in April.

Felt crook this morning but had a 2 hours of site visits with the nice blonde at work this morning, then another 2 hour meeting with her in the afternoonteddybear teddybear

I didn’t mention the industrial accident that ripped my arm out of its socket back in 2007? Took three years too get the pain down to a workable level!

And back in 2011 I fell out off the truck fractured my leg and smashed the dome in my ankle! I am still dealing with the pain from that one, I see my specialist again this Thursday, and the insurance companies specialist the following Friday, both are my RDOs!

Men work in hazardous jobs?

Yes I am accident prone!

Okay, Blizz, you only gp to work 4 days a week. Some of us are lucky to get the 1 day off a month as an RDO. But try being self employed when every time you take any time off, no one is going to pay you. And the boss knows you are not really crook.

I have worked 7 days a week with a normal day being 12 hours, longer during daylight savings. And I couldn't shut up shop because "I don't feel well today." Did that for 3 solid years and have a lot of respect for those people scraping a living doing that.

My brother is a brickie and has been doing that for the last 48 years, 43 of them self-employed. We both suffer from Oesteo-thingy-me-stuff in one form or another. But we have to make a living.

We don't 'fall off trucks' because we are careful about what can happen and make sure we don't fall. We bend our knees, even if it does look a bit 'not straight' but we value the bits that are still working.

Do we jump off tall buildings in a single bound? Not bloody likely as something might get broke. Do we jump out of a truck or just climb down safely?

My father, brother and I have grown up with people taking shortcuts on building sites. We have taken them to hospital, comforted them until the ambulance has arrived. My brother at 17 even had to comfort a guy falling 1 floor because of his little dance across the floor before he fell and broke his skull. Ambulance didn't get there in time.

Had mate who was a garbo who broke his back when 2 garbo trucks were having a race during a U-turn and he was crushed between them.

Sorry, Blizz, but most (not all) 'industrial accidents' could have been avoided.

My apologies for the diatribe but have seen so many "accidents" that would never have happened with a bit of common sense.

Blizz as paid workers we all have the right to a safe workplace. If you dont feel safe say NO!

That is why we has OH&S laws.

I was injured at work two years ago, I did warn them that I was having trouble but because I kept doing the job they let me.

Because I didnt say NO I was then injured.

If I had kicked up a stink I would not have gone through the pain and inconvienence of the last two years. Yep management might not have liked it but in hindsight (a wonderful thing) I would have still kept a job with the company.

sometimes you have to speak up, you have to say no or someone does and will get hurt at best, or at worst killed.

if we shortcut at safety we only have ourselves to blame

Obscuritan: Women claim men are wusses and obviously would not be able to handle the pain of childbirth. Two men decided to prove them wrong with this scientific experiment.
Fun, funny and interesting.
