First of all, pick a time when it is not rainingrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

But give plenty of warning about it so people can plan ahead.

Was one a year back at some pub and it did get some interest, mainly from those up that way as was a bit short notice. And it was the same weekend I was at a do at Coolum.

So pick a date where everyone down south wants to get away from the crappy weather and you might get a few bites from those who are sick of the "cooler" (read miserable Melbourne) weather.

ok wash grin do I can pretty much get the ball a-rolling and reach as many Gold Coasters or near enough-ers and suggest a date to meet?

dunno however rain can happen any old time and you'd need crystal balls to predict a non-rainy date sad flower

I'll put feelers out at once ! grin When are you next this way, I will make it around that time laugh

Hi lillyleaf

I've cut and pasted this for you, it will get the ball rolling, but you'll find more information about organising a CS event if you click on 'Contact Us' at the bottom of this page.

'Here is how to organize your CS Event:

1.Start a forum thread to introduce your event idea to see if there is interest.
2.Find out if members are interested. Discuss the details with members: time, place, etc. The get-together doesn't have to be a 'big deal'. It can just be a time set to meetup for coffee or a drink to get acquainted. These are the most popular.
3.If there is interest, fill out the form below. Enter the specific details of the event: tell us WHAT the evening is for/what you'll be doing; WHERE you will meet (with address and directions); WHEN (date and time). We will use this information in your SignUp and to create a mailing.
4.If there is time, we will send a mailing to members in your area, including your event info and telling members to visit your thread in the forum to ask you questions or to signup for your event. The mailing will bring new members from your area into the forums and it's a good way to get acquainted with members you may not meet otherwise. We recommend your signup thread be especially attentive to newcomers so they feel welcome and want to start posting with you.'

If you make it relatively central , a few brisbane peeps might make an appearance. Also , when picking a place , make sure its got big tables , and no loud music so you can hear conversation.
I used to organise meets many moons ago , at greenbank RSL , they have 2 restaurants , and another area with a live band ( starts at 9pm from memory ). It also helps in planning a place if you know how many would go , this way you can pick a place to cater for lots , or a place for a few.

You could also organise an "Impromptu Walkabout" like Jem has done a few times in Melbourne. Just meet up on a Sunday somewhere that you can grab a bite to eat, have a walk around (although if you do it now up your way, tell them to bring gum-bootsrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing ). More of just a meet and greet get-together and a bit of a chat for the "locals" to get to know each other.

And thinking about a proper "Meet" up your way, something in Brisbane CBD or even Tweed Heads or Coolum (close to airports) would be good.

Living on the GolDy myself I think Broadbeach would be the ideal place for a get together ... and from there can always wander over to the casino to the Atrium Bar to cruise out the night ...

Just a thought ......................... drinking

On another site I used to be on, I have had house warming party’s, welcome to WA parties, at my home? But that was after going too a lot off get-togethers, so I new most off the people coming to my place, strange thing though, I always had more women then men over, actually coming to think about it, every event I have ever been too has had more women than men at it?
professor rolling on the floor laughing cheers
