Just read a frightening statistic in the news today ...

"A week after ex-tropical Cyclone Oswald devastated southern and central Queensland, about 3685 km, or 10 per cent, of state and local roads remain closed or have limited access"

3,685 kms!! That's amazing - and going to be damned expensive to replace, some of it for the second time in 2 yrs?

Having been through the 192 landslips from heavy rains in the Shire 2 years ago I work in and needing $16 million to do urgent repairs, the State Govt gave us $10 million to do the urgent repairs.frustrated frustrated

We are a small Shire of just 43,000 people and 4,000 sq kms who do not like to have a few drops in their backyard. Imagine the likes of Qld where that have 1,000 or so people in a shire and need the roads for their livelihood.

Rob, unfortunate part is that is so very true. We can only put it back to the way it was.frustrated frustrated

State and Feds want us/demands us to increase the availability of land to homeowners. Sadly, the land that they want us to open us is usually the "Greenfields" where the climate controlled what they planted....and they took pot luck on being able to get their produce to market.

Now they have houses going into those nice flat level spots where stormwater cannot drain away.frustrated frustrated
