The New Zealand Government has agreed to take 150 asylum seekers annually from Australia's detention centres.

So what happens if the asylum seekers don’t want to go to New Zealand.

We dress them up in wool and tell them they get a free Kiwi to take home with them!

I think we could give then a dozen each, just to be on the safe side, very hard to train those kiwis?

They go straight for the bosses bum and never let go?

The generosity of the NZ Govt is outstanding. That would go so much to helping us poor Aussies in limiting illegal immigration.

Hang on a minute. NZ has hundreds getting over here each year.dunno dunno Are you running out of people?????

Hi Mr Lookin, applause

Looking forward towards a better world...

the Govts made an agreement... to give foreign countries aid.. and to make it sorta fair.. they came up with a figure... a percentage of the country's earnings.

so that is that... sorta... coz Julia now has now reneged on her part of that... with saying that some of that promised money is gonna go towards the keep of the refugees..

As for giving money to Womens projects in Asia... she is going ahead with that... and the reason is... that with help, our neighbors will bounce themselves up to a less poorer country, in the hope that we can continue our trade with them...... call it insurance... you pay out.. and rarely get back.. grin

As for you sloggin away at the daily grind... the idea is that you do that til you are allowed to retire... and your gracious pollies want you to understand... that..

you dont get up and wonder who is gunna fire bullets at you and your house.. ( peace in Australia)

You are safe, have food in the shops, dont have to walk thousands of miles to get to a refugee camp. and sleep out in the open...and find there is no water... wow

so for that privelge... you pay taxes, you struggle, but you have a bed, food in your fridge, and a lawn and hills hoist...

So there you are my friend... you are in a good position. laugh

Agree with what you said Merri.

But like many people who have struggled to get what they have by working hard, it is a downer when you see others living on generous handouts all the time. I lived and worked in Sydney where there was a very high number of Housing Commission suburbs. Drive around and look at the big 4wd needed to tow the big caravans they have, carpets replaced for free, house painted for free, rent a pittance and some people do get a bit peeved when they have to go out and work and not be able to afford these things.

Refugees and asylum seekers are a different issue. I have no problem with aiding them and setting them up to have what we would call a normal life here in Australia (and I mean being a productive part of our society).

It is the illegal emmigrants that I have issues with. I have had 2 illegals in my extended family and both were very hard workers who did go out and earn a decent living. There are quite a few who have migrated here legally and worked hard for what they have today.

As Lookin said, we have a lot of people here today who do need a helping hand and the Govt is giving 10% (??) of our Gross Domestic Product (our total turnover) in foreign aid. Just hope that the cost of our defence forces overseas and the running of the off-shore & on-shore detention camps come out of this.....they are aiding foreighners.
