Just have to let off some steam...... and mabye someone has a solution on hand.

as some of you know I came here 15 month ago to live and work in your wonderfull Country.

Now i found out I m to old to apply for permanent residency next Year, but I m welcome to work here untill I m 65 and pay all my Taxes and my Super.

That sucks, as I know for a fact that some of the People who come over on a Boat and dont even work here and are even older than me can stay here for good.

Bit unfair i think very mad

Hi Alle , you have not said where you are from . Many thousands of New Zealanders are caught up with this as well. NZ has run an open door policy and it was thought that people coming here would go straight to Aussi . Hence the change in the law in Aussi . From what I understand NZ is the only country that was affected by the change .

Goes both ways epirb i work with a NZ shelia she's lived here 30yrs and refuses to become a citizen .Although her kids were forced to when they were at school she is still spitting chips over that !!
Mind you she gets a housing trust unit and the rest of us need to line up for years plus every other thing we citizens get .
IMHO no idea why she is still here seeing she doesnt like it here !

I m from Germany, have a nice House with a garden, a car, and all payed for on my own. So, if I had to leave when I m 65 I have to give it all up.....but I did that in Germany too and belive me its not as easy as it might sound

And for the suggestion of getting married... you Aussies are to laid back to handle a stubborn german.... you run a milegrin

not sure what the answer is for you , I do know New Zealanders can bring back their super to NZ now . Lots of German migrants in the Nelson area , pleasant area with high sunshine hours without the humidity .

Suppose you've looked into business visa/permanent resident, thought you only had to show your business returns a profit within three years.
Business Owners

Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 890)
For people to assist in the economic development of Australia. This visa allows you to stay in Australia on a permanent basis for the purpose of owning a new or existing business.

Not quite the same situation but I have a Brasilian friend who migrated to NZ and became a citizen, then came to Australia about 4 years ago. She was too old for permanant residency but...

she was able to get a job and gain a sponsor for immigration. She was successful and gained her citzenship this year

so maybe see if there is that option for you, but I imagine it will be harder as a business owner.

Might pay to consult an Immigration lawyer?dunno

good luck

yes i did......there is another snag, you cant bring more than 10.000$ into the country... as a business owner you have to put down 40.000$ straight up. And than you have to have a Buisness..wich is way to risky.....because if that fails you have to go aswell within 28 days... Like me on a 457 Visa. ( at least for the first 2 years)

and about that Love thing...see above...lol

Sounds complicated when it shouldn't be.

I have a German mate who has been here twice for longish periods. Last June, he and his wife sold everything to go back to Germany for good, mainly to look after his old parents but she also missed Germany. Got an email last week saying he has quit his job, they are packing, house has been more or less sold and will be back at the end of April.

ps. Us Aussies don't run a mile. We have cars to go that farrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Very sorry to hear that Allegria. Have you seen an immigration lawyer? If there is any way, a good one should be able to find it.

Can't you apply to become an Aussie citizen, seems like just about everyone else can. Failing that, go to Indonesia on a holiday then throw your passport away contact a people smuggler, get on a rickety boat and come in the back door, seems to be the craze these days, Oh and make sure you change your name to Abdhul Hussien or something similarcheers thumbs up

Well they haven’t kicked my mum out as yet? Or my step dad, and they are both on the Aussie pensions and their both Poms! Just tell them you are going to stay! And if they say you cant you will call the media! Remember this is an election year and they cant handle the bad publicity? Can you imagine the public outcry? Off them kicking out a hard working woman that has paid her taxes to give her place to some freeloader that will go straight on welfare for life and bring all their old relatives over, I would rather they let people in on merit who can speak read and write English, than the people we are getting!

There is a factory in Coogee where I used to drop the recycle rubbish, 12 guys put their hands up for training on a forklift? Work safe said NO! as to get a forklift licence you have too be able to read and write English! The company cant get Aussies to work for them? As the wages are too low? So basically the people who do work here are getting exploited because they don’t understand English!
