we got two good showers day before yesterday, but area with fire missed most of those and evening before last quite lot brown smoke appeared as the fire started to run, but yesterday's pretty heavy shower hopefully drenched both fires, while another one appears to be burning somewhere this morning (not a worry here)
Over past few days lightening started least three fires just east, north east of here and the DSE thankfully quickly got on top of those.
Was a fire east of here at MOTTLE RANGE 22 KM NW OF ORBOST, VICTORIA yesterday which has been controlled.
BUSHFIRE' event at 18:52 PM Sun, February 24th 2013 at DARGO - MATHESON TRACK 09 KM NORTH OF DARGO, VICTORIA is marked as contained

BUSHFIRE' event at 18:49 PM Sun, February 24th 2013 at HARRIETVILLE - ALPINE SOUTH HOTHAM HEIGHTS, VICTORIA is marked as GOING

mapping can be located on:

but good rain yesterday will have dampened much of the area round here

Thanks for the update Rob, how many weeks is it now the bushfires been burning in Vic?? must be 4 or 5?

Curly I don't know how you survive those temps, anything over 30C is insufferable for me sigh

Hey you forgot to mention Tropical Cylcone Rusty up near Port Hedland? australia (Rusty - love the name!)

Keep an eye on that one?

Stay safe all.

Yeah we get tropical cylcone's all the time up north of Western Australia Rusty is at the moment at stage 2 Hopefully by the time it hits land it will be scaled down to mild and no damage to.

It can and does have an impact on Perth depending on the scale of the cylcone when it hits.

Sorry to disagree Micky... but I really dont care what it brings in to the state... because if they continue to host stuff like this... and umpteen thousand people lose their jobs for tardiness... it wont be fun..

If they want this festival state to succeed... they need to do something drastic to the infrastructure...

Remember.. this year... we have no trains running... so we have no other option than to drive..

and before you mention buses... not only do I not have a bus service.. but the buses are stuck in the traffic like all the other automobiles..

I AM MAD AS HELL OVER THIS... bloody ministers who cant think of their own FIRST... We the tax payers should be looked after... not the ruddy clipsal mob... frustrated very mad

Sorry to say George, but you are stuck in a high temp & high humidity area. I lived about 20kms away for 20 or so years but had worked there in the early 70s. Now living on the edge of Melb and humidity is rarely a problem.

On saying that, I have heard that if Melb records a 30+ temp tomorrow, it will be a new record for continuous days over 30dunno

After living (?) in western Sydney for 25 years, it was often a blessing if it got below 30 at least one night in the week.cheering cheering cheering

Yep, it's been warm for a few weeks now in Melbourne, over 30 and hardly any rain. Gardens are dry and brown, soil is cracked. But our water restrictions are eased so we can hand water.
