I feel for you I have lost two very close friends over the last 3 years it still is very hard to cope with I think about them all the time and miss them so much Seems to have gone so fast haven't had time to think about it

Positive attitude is what counts. Make the most of what you have. I flick back to Desiderada when things do not seem to go the way I thought they could have been. Always works for me.
Over the last 2 years, I have dropped out of the Land Rover Club events for 1 or 5 reasons. I made a New Year's Resolution (never believed in them as everyone seems to break them) to GET OUT.
Had a great weekend away "with the boys" and the women that went to the Land Rover Heritage Weekend. Okay, it was stinking hot in Lismore Vic but it was great to get back out with people I have known over the years and to meet some newbies.
And looking forward to the rest of the month catching up with friends from different interest groups.

Its going fast! Only five more public holidays before the start of the financial year, this year is a little better than last year as things are starting to get done around the house, I have started the front yard, but still need to do the driveway, still waiting for a payout for my foot or another operation or both?
The kid finishes her three months trial period at work tomorrow, that went fast? She mentioned it too her boss today, I told her to ask for a pay rise!
The four new trucks arrived at work finally and are almost fully operational, still a few gremlins too workout, as I am one of the relief drivers who drives every truck in the fleet, I am having to teach the other drivers how the new computers work in the trucks,

My years seem to get faster of late. Must be the old timers because I usually forget what I was doing last week.

Which is exactly why I am seriously thinking about it. There are so many things to do that we put off until we retire, and then aren't able to enjoy those things we waited for.
I have taken the time over the years to see many different places. A lot of friends have said the "I will do this when I retire." But are unable to do it mainly for health reasons or "My money won't last."
I have grown up with a lot of "my history" being told to me but have only read about these places. Loved going "over there" to see some of the context. Merri has and is taking the opportunity to visit some of the places she has always read about and going to enjoy it.
Do I want to go back for another visit to Europe? Yeah I would love to. Maybe one day IF I have someone who had a similar interest in seeing those places. And I have a lot more of Australia to explore.
And I have met a lot of people who have never gone more than 100km from there birthplace. And these are usually the knockers of those who travel much longer distances.

The best comment I have heard in a long time is from an almost 80yo Pom who lives in NZ and has the driest wit, he reckons "If I had known retirement was going to be this good I would never have started work in the first place"
He grows his own vegies, chops his own wood for the winter, does some voluntary work associated with his hobby, visits his family and goes to the same pub for tea on Friday night that he has been going to for about 40 yrs! Gotta love em?

blo*dy crap so far ....... smashed car last monday .... been running around trying to sort it out ..... thurs got flu/cold in and out of docs bed etc .... cant sleep with flu/cold as well as heat and other stuff ..... car into assesors in morn,(wed) 4-5hrs lost work. Car booked in on friday for 2-3 weeks of pampering at panel shop.

Last year more dates, this year one continuous date.....
Last year more sun, this year hardly seen it for the last 6 weeks.....
Work. The same. Still get holidays about every 10 weeks. Heading over to China at Easter for some fun!
