justjim63: Bali's not such a bad place, most of the people that get into trouble over are doing drugs or drinking in back alley bars(drinks spiked with methanol) If you stick to the popular areas you won't have any problems, have a great trip, wish i was going.

robplum: Lady i know went to Fiji and had a great time, however I'm sure be much cheaper to fly to Bali from WA than to Fiji
still there are some pretty concerning goings on in Bali and reports on the extent of deaths occurring there is gripping stuff

yes mate i was reading about stabbings in Bali not so long ago. Myself i enjoyed a few visits to Bali a long time ago, twice i hired a motor bike for week and drove around up in the mountains and across the other side and enjoyed checking out the water works feeding the paddies.
However last time i visited Bali had filled up with Muslims from Java, really crazy picks as best as i could tell.
There were no large holiday resorts on Bali in those days just small, nice family run motel like rooms, that provided breakfast and were really cheap. Like in $1.50 a day

oh well, ive probably just turned down the hols of a lifetime in gosnells,

i have heard bad stories, but my boss goes twice a year and she has never had any problems. depends where you go and what you do i suppose.
