Very sad and a bit further up Swanston St than where we ate, up in the uni precinct.
A brick wall from a construction site hit by the 100km gale force wind change
mickyj63: Poor teens very sad for their families And yep Jem mickyj who couldnt sleep walked up that far !!
Very sad when something like this happens to innocent people.
Saw some of the pictures and it makes you think a bit about the structural integrity of some of the facades we walk by each day thinking that it is safe to go there. The site had a number of timber walls erected that had a lot of bracing which are still standing, but not the brick wall for some reason.
The developer (cannot mention the "G....." name for possible future defamation lawsuits) will have a lot to answer for.

still would bring it home to you though, been so close so no news of the 30 year old woman? no name yet? it cant have been built properly for wind to blow it over although i know it was a huge gust, still, it shows things are not built properly anymore.

Extremely sad for families, friends of the the 2 poor kids. My heart goes out to them. I would not be able to cope if it happened to my kids. Us Melbourneians would have walked there many a time. I always believed in bricks and mortar to be the safest structure. Just a freaky accident.
