I'll call myself a "sportsfisherman" laughingly that is . I was fishing the Patawalonga . Think the colour of the Yara and the smell of a treatment plant . I dont eat what I catch but take a snap and put them back thanks rex hunt .
And these Bream are very slow growing fish and the food they eat is full of toxins whichs makes the bream full of them as well.
Yep having fun this is what i do in the warm weather espically if i dont sleep

You really should put them back so they can grow a bit more! Unless you own a cat?

Prefer this one still looking for my first 40cm

I am here Micky, didn't go away. It reminded me of catching fresh fish on Phillip Island and eating it that same night or next day.My ex used to fillet and I used to scale, clean and take the bones out of the fish that could not be filleted. The taste was superb. We used to catch King George Whiting, snapper, trevally and leather jackets. This was when I was happily married. I agree with you I would not be eating fish from rivers--- definitely no no.I was not sure where you caught the fish. Thanks for the link now I know. I am afraid I haven't traveled much.

conduit: It is a pity that our rivers/lakes have so much carp. However if you catch trout---unbelievable fish--taste is fabulous. Ocean fishing is where the great fish are. We used to know a spot on P.I. that was more like a bay (the ocean was very smooth/not rough) that was where the fish were. Unfortunately over time everybody went there. The fishing lines used to get tangled. The Island built up.I haven't been there since 10years---probably fished out.

I use artificial baits these days soft plastics hard body lures and if I get the urge again flies for bream. Its one of those things you can not just go and get a fish . You have to go and go and go .
Then again sometimes it works day 1 other times it doesn't .
Going in a short while for another fish !!
