I would never have thought it, but I would now rather be treated in a hospital here than back home in Australia!
The throughness of investigations into my illness, including x-rays, CT-Scans, numberous blood tests, ultrasounds, etc, all because a couple of markers seemed outside normal bounds has been amazing... no stone was left unturned to ensure that I am completely okay in every way.
I have not had such thorough investigation of any illness in Australia.
Treatments both medicinal and herbal have been quickly forthcoming here. Initial medicinal treatments are as a matter of course given introveniously to ensure that treatments are immediately in effect from the moment after diagnosis has been completed. There are whole rooms of IV chairs for patients to sit in and watch TV while medication is administered using this process.
Subsequent followups involve not only checking externally that all is okay, but further blood tests are done to check markers and body response to administered and perscribed medications.
Who would have thought.... my perceptions of China's medical systems have definitely changed. If I were to be ill anywhere, I am now really glad that it was here in China.
Of course, it is good and bad to have an interpreter who is a nurse (my girlfriend).... but that is another story for another time....
