Dunno Lookin' my first thought was, Likely Story!
Snake escapes, makes its way upstairs, finds 2 boys, decides to strangle them, both at the same time; not even one manages to escape while the snake is trying to grab the other?
Did they catch the snake in the act? Did they find snake skin cells on their necks?

Looks like the python might not have been kept in the shop - but in a glass cage (?) inside the flat above the pet shop. So sad, those 2 lovely boys should be alive today.

The mother of two small boys strangled by a 100-pound (45-kilogram) python in their sleep earlier this week in Canada had posted photos on Facebook last year of the boys playing in and cleaning her neighbor's snake enclosure.

Mandy Trecartin's Facebook page has hundreds of photos of her sons, including a few showing Noah Barthe, 4, and Connor Barthe, 6, happily scrubbing the glass enclosure, which she identified as an anaconda habitat. It was not clear whether the enclosure is the one that held the python.

and

The snake, an African rock python, apparently escaped from its enclosure, slithered through a ventilation system and fell through the ceiling into the room where the young boys were sleeping, authorities said. They had been visiting the apartment of a friend whose father owned an exotic pet store on the floor below.

Thanks for the info rob - that is so weird? What is wrong with these parents? Do they think it is 'cute' for their kids to be placed in such danger? sigh

Obscuritan: What about if it thinks it is in danger?

I have no idea but I suppose all animals whatever they need to do will do to protect themselves. The story says that the snake was hungry that is what motivated the kill. Im questioning why one child wouldn’t be screaming while the other was getting killed and if they both were in deep sleep than would the snake feel threatened. Something doesn’t sit right with this story is all.
