All of my four children spent time at a little country school at Akitio . One started his schooling there , but for 18 months spent with his mother off and on all his primary up to form two was there . Akitio school has closed last term . A little school miles from any place sitting on a nice beach . A year or two after my last child left to go to high school there was a falling out among the parents over the bus timetable . The older kids were traveling first and getting home early , the new little kids were going home last and getting home 4:30 or later . Winter time the little kids were knocked around by it as they were traveling first in the morning as well (early) Up-shot was the parents of the older kids wanted things to stay the way they were and they made up the board of trustees so they had the power as well . None of the parents of the older kids wanted to pick there kids up from school as it was less than ten minutes for them . In the end bust up big time and the older school parents took their kids off to another school . 45 minutes by private car and a bus .How stupid is that . As time has gone more parents have started their children at the other school .Now there is no option . One lot of prats I referred to as the" Northern Alliance" and the others as the "Board of Trustees in Exile" . I hope they have trouble sleeping as what they all managed to do was crap mumbling

Sounds like this "board of trustees" has too much power. I think here we just have a "parents committee" who just have an advisory role. Unless it's a private school?

Things change, sadly, not always for the better... I sit in traffic going to work each day because children, high school children are being driven to school by their parents.. Just spoilt..!! I made mine catch the school bus.. and yes, it cost money, but you cannot tell me that these days, with those big cars they have got... it would cost less..

and of course, the littlies need to spend less time at school.. what were they thinking.?

sorry to hear your sad story Epirb.

It was all about a group and their power and using it for their own ends . Police got involved twice over it . Pleased my children had moved on as there would have been a third side . Pity for all the kids not yet born who will have to travel far to schooling .Never mind Merri in 80 years nobody will remember .
