Unfortunate story; looks like a dating site meetup gone wrong.
Coincidentally, I was in Traralgon on Tuesday - for a funeral.

Hi Lookin, hope that works. wave

If you're meeting someone from a dating website, this person is a stranger. Why are people so careless? doh

Indeed.
He probably convinced her with "come back to my caravan - er... mansion, and admire my collection of ......."
"Etchings" used to be the cliche, but no one collects etchings anymore do they.

Agreed KNeagh - the bottom line is your own personal safety?

Meet in a public place, don't get in a stranger's vehicle (that means they are in control??) and no matter how much pressure they put on you, how much they make you feel like you are paranoid - it is still better than taking an uneccessary risk?? confused

Any man who you meet on a date should understand that you would want to feel safe - and if that hurts their feelings, well too bad. Walk away. thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up

Thank you, Lookin'... Fortunately I tend not to be impressed by men who drive utes... wink

Seriously though, thank you for being concerned about my welfare hug ...but I have been in Melbourne all week and it's highly unlikely that I would meet up with someone in Morwell... other than a business meeting. The Valley is such an interesting place.

"Etchings" are so cave-associated. In the Latrobe Valley, they would be "tags" ... graffiti tags. laugh

Thank you, Lookin'. I am fine... I wouldn't associate with a young guy like this.

Etchings are what you find the aboriginals did in caves...

my mother and father in their working days were phychiatric nurses crazy a few patients used to do etchings on the walls writing but never used paint rolling on the floor laughing

I wondered about the origin of the phrase/joke "Would you like to come up and see my etchings?"
Seems it comes from the French, but they said: would you like to come and see my Japanese stamps? These were wood block prints and were popular collectors items in the late 1800's. You had to be of good taste of course to own these, so it was a way of reassuring your visitor that you could be trusted. However, the innuendo behind it was always clear.

mickyj63: Hi KNenagh
How you going I'm awesome again: wave: in other words I aint feeling sick any more !!!
And I'm afraid in the past I've done all the dumb things while dating online . From being drugged with speed to getting into a strangers car !! Having one lady walking with me and passing the same shady guys in different spots . She was trying to steer us into darker and darker areas . Number 1 I wouldn't walk there and number two I used to live nearby where she was steering me and I knew not to walk there !!
Cheers
Micky the survivor lucky I didn't wear bling then !!

PS
Yes I did when I went interstate and stayed with the tattooed one !! never do that again.

wave Hi Micky 'the Man' - glad to hear you are well? Just remember what your mum told you ' "don't talk to strangers, and always wear clean underwear" laugh

Hi Micky, glad you're feeling better. hug

Yes, it applies to men as well, unsavoury people of both genders out there. uh oh

I think sometimes if it doesn't cross our minds to do "bad" to someone, we don't think someone could to something "bad" to us, that's why we just do "stupid" things. Reading articles like that just makes people aware what can happen and maybe make them more careful. dunno

We live and learn. wine

Thank you for making me cringe.

I wish I didn't know what you are referring to...but alas...the visual is firmly embedded in my mind.
