All I read today talks negative about the impending poll outcome. Come on Australia, a change is needed. Abbott may not be perfect, but when every other choice has failed, how much damage this new guy can do? Worth giving a try

Thx Rob. All we can do is be positive. I am not pro-Abbott but since most Australians made him win, hence like all those people, all we can do is hope for the best outcome

The sad fact is that most other economies are running on "What day do WE allcall sacred to not to call day work."

We do like to go out on a Sunday and enjoy ourselves. But who likes to pay the price?

Sorry, but if the workers do not want to work on the Sacred Sunday for the extra benefits they can get, why should anyone work on these sacred Sundays and others pay for the extra costs?

Yes, Tony, we do love our weekends and our RDOs and do love to be able to enjoy our time off. But some people have to work during those times to make a living while we fortunates have the luxury of time off.

It is a bit silly to insist on a day off on our "Sacred Day" when a lot of people are not christians/don't believe in God.

I wouldn't like to face a reduction in pay but we are out-pricing ourselves and can get our products and work done from overseas.

I wouldn't be willing to agree to any changes to our working conditions and entitlements until the politians agree to work under the same rules and have the same entitlements as the rest of us. Why should they have all the perks the greedy B's. Doesn't matter who is in office, they are in it for the money.

Anectodally, Aussies do not vote in politicians, they vote out politicians, and the others get in by default because of the lack of true democracy we have in this country.

When the two major parties are threatened they resort to jailing the opposition that threatened their power base! What did Pauline Hanson do that was so illegal? Oh that's right.... she threatened their power base.

Now we have a house of reps that can do nothing they promised because of a hostile senate.

Come on Australia, wake up. Australia will never get back on its feet as long as we keep on voting Liberal or Labour. And the Greens are so whacked up on Pot thinking that we can save the world while we sell our coal and oil overseas.....

The only real difference between the two major parties is the spelling of their names. That's it....

Micky, like many people, your rent is based on you being there 7 days a week.

Worklife is based on you being there 5 days a week. Like many people, you expect to be paid extra for the other 2 days but your landlord does not hit you for a bit more for the extra 2 days. He averages it out.

Okay, I have worked basically on a contractual basis most of my life where it has been Mon-Fri with extra outside those days or outside the hours stipulated.

I do love to have my latte on my time out from working and willing to pay for the privelege of someone being there when I need him/her to provide me with my lattee (NO, I don't really drink lattees).

I have been to many hospitality venues over the years where there is a surcharge for Sunday and Public Holiday surcharges. Oddly enough, these are the times when a lot of the hospitality industry does make an income compared to the rest of the week.

Are they any cheaper during the normal working week without the penalty rates for staff?

I agree on that. Its time the government stop worrying too much about outsiders and concentrates more on its own citizens. Millions of dollars that drains out overseas could have done miracles back home.
