Technology development goes on behind the scenes all the time. Scientist are getting closer to developing a humanoid robot as a companion among other applications.

What do you think? How would you feel if there were humanoid robots walking among us?

Human emotions are weird, I wouldn’t be surprised if people develop true feelings for one and treat it as a human. laugh

Personally I think that it is really sad that we have to make artifical people to be companions to real people. What is happening to our society and our social structure when we would rather have an artifical relationship in preference to a real relationship.

Human beings naturally crave affection, acceptance and companionship. Only the few can live happily alone.

So in our disintegrating world, we now have people creating artifical humans (aka robots) to be companions to real humans who have lost the ability to relate to other real humans.

this is a really sad development in the evolution of man.

What a step back for the soul of mankind.....

Yes the humaniod robot is a little creepy but is that because it's so humanlike? The Star Wars version of C3PO was a well liked character. Was that because he still looked robotic and his face didn't have skin.

Is having a robot companion any different to a child playing with a talking doll or a toy robot?

I agree we are loosing the connection with other humans as we become more isolated from community in one respect with the break down of extended families, single parent families etc.

But humans seem to have always had a fascination with recreating itself. It seems technology is bringing us closer than ever to that reality.

A good movie that deals with the social and ethical issues of humanoid robots is 'i Robot' where a Robot is developed that can feel human emotions.

I also find your animal like robot a little disconcerting Obs as it doesn't appear to have a head laugh
