cruiser68: Not sure on that one mate... explain a "heat pump"
Obs has got it , if you work or live around them you could be suffering from dehydration . Soon to be daughter inlaw wanted one put in the new house as it was very hot and she was heavily pregnant . Both new parents were affected by bad headaches and the new baby would have been affected as well . A loose comment from someone sorted the problem . Katie told me that she is able to dry clothing quickly next to the unit . When you are really suffering from dehydration the last thing you will feel is thirsty .I keep a large pot of water on my fire for the same reason as it steams slowly . What ever is causing your head aches could be simple and not medical . If you use cell or wireless phones a lot try putting them on speaker . Pity to blow your brains out on account of a dry house or strong cell / wireless router /heavy overhead power wires /leaky microwave systems .

Obscuritan: It would be a tragedy to let all those people with all those years of accumulated expertise in production, design and engineering go to waste.
How can we avert this? More subsidies, raise tariffs (again)? Somehow devalue the currency?
Or come up with an idea for another industry where some of them can use their skills? But what? Digging more holes in the ground?
Its very easy to drop the exchange rate , comment from our reserve bankers is bull , same crap is spread your side of Tasman .Not so easy to stop it dropping though .Your government needs to be held accountable for the level of the dollar . Emails , yelling at meetings if need be . Nothing like the thought of loosing access to taxpayer funded bar tab to sharpen their little minds .

I suffer dehydration quite often, to check if you are is pretty easy, push thumb on mussel and if indent remains then you are dehydrated.

I think they stopped using amalgam for fillings quite a long time ago.

Another angle on constant head aches, is continuous stressful thoughts, best remedy i know of is breathing meditation.
Sit quietly, comfortably breath in one nostril out the other eleven times, change in nostril to other side nostril in and out eleven times, then in both nostrils and out bother eleven times all x 3. If you find yourself going off following a thought, start again, boss the mind into focusing on the breathing.
We can use one finger to block the out side nostril while breathing in. Takes a bit to master but the outcome is well worth persistent effort.

By daily engaging in that practice we soon stop our old habitual continuously grasping thought stress making process.

I to had a gob full of amalgam, in 2000 both John Howard and Helen Clark invited I wanted to return to NZ and sort issues I had with NZ Defence Force out.
I went NZ early 2001, received invitation from Privacy Commissioner to file in the Human Rights Review Tribunal. Making disclosures government minister had plod fire a bullet through my window, then senior legal officer appeared in the Tribunal lying his teeth out, I became very distressful, even flew back to Australia and sort Political asylum but got told to return NZ.
During all those events I pulled lot of my own teeth out, dentists over there pulled less than half of them, I pulled the rest my self. Pus formed under tooth which became extremely painful, in hindsight the infection formed from my poor stress management, I’ve now only four teeth left.

And back to Holden closing. The previous Govt did make some effort to try and stop Ford ceasing production but Ford USA made the decision to close. It is GM USA that has made the decision to close.

Article on tv today where the unions want this Govt to give Holden $1 Billion to stay open. They could probably buy out Holden for less.

How many people here own a Holden made in the last 5 years?

I have 3 vehicles, none made here. I had a work vehicle, not made here.

My brother has 3 vehicles, and 1 is a 1970 Monaro that he bought brand new. The last GMH vehicle he bought, and being one of the Bathurst models, only owner and immaculate condition (recently won Best in Show), it is now worth a small fortune.

Of the many vehicles my children, nephews & nieces have bought over the last 15 years, not one GMH product manufactured during that time. One nephew has bought 3 older GMH vehicles - an old Kingswood for $50 dollars that he kept going for 3 years, an SLR5000 he bought and sold for a profit within a year, and a 1971 Monaro he bought as a long term investment.

If you think about it, who is willing to pay $30,000+ for a Holden product when you can buy a much cheaper import (and often better options) to get you around?

cruiser68: Thats worth chasing, thanks mate, still have all my own teeth, but rears are lined with that AMALGAM where school dentist students used to practice for free yrs ago. could be the Mercury leeching out, once again thank you....

Recall ex #1 having problems with headaches (besides me). She went to see the doctor for her headaches just before she saw the dentist (husband and wife team) for a checkup once and the dentist saw that there was a problem with her teeth. One in particular that might cause her the headaches. And called her husband in to explain what she tought was the problem. Removing the tooth removed one of her headaches.

I agree with Epirb about the dehydration problem - it can cause headaches. Learnt that when I had that when I had a wood-fuel heater. Takes a lot of moisture out of the air. Always put a pot on for a bit of steam. Fixed that problem.

Ummm.. it was reducing tariffs that the previous Hawke/Keating Govt had made Legislation. Many friends in industry went under thanks to Hawke & Keating reducing/eliminating tarrifs.

The tariffs helped to keep local industry financially viable. But now is the time for the AU Govt to say we are not going to keep USA Ford & USA GM going for their (USA) financial benefit when we do have to compete in other areas where they give massive support to agriculture to our detriment.
