Hi Kristia wave

I'm catching up with my sons and their partners, and grandson on Christmas eve this year as it's their turn to visit the in laws on Chrissy day this year. thumbs up

I may have my single son at home but he'll probably have other plans. My parents are 7 hours away and don't feel like driving all Christmas day.

I don't mind as long as I get to have my time with them. teddybear

Although I have never spent Christmas day along before. Might have to crash a friends lunch or just stay at home and watch Jesus movies on tele. laugh

being the solo parent I got used to spending Christmas day alone . Children change over for the main days (used to be called prisoner exchange) ,simple as that . Roster for parents now for me is every other year with inlaws and the outlaw to be considered as well .

Having moved the 1,000kms, it did mean "where do I go for Xmas??" It meant that I did not want to be near "She who demands to be obeyed" but wanted to see my children.

Was very hard when it was "We can just spend an hour with you but must be going to visit family."frustrated dunno Worse was that they were visiting my sister for Xmas lunch and I was not welcome.

For those lucky enough to enjoy time with family and friends, I do wish you every happiness during this time.

I was told by Ajax that 60 percent of Australians are atheists, so I guess they must ignore it...

It is a shame that what passes as a religious event, has absolutely nothing to do with the Jesus of the bible.

Believe in him or not, the modern Christmas is nothing more than the celebration of the winter solstice in the norther hemisphere, gift wrapped in santa, commercialism, and paganism whitewashed with the name of Christ.

Even Catholism that introduced Christmas to the world is not the religion of the Jesus of the bible.

I understand why there are so many veherment adversaries to the belief in God.

And it is okay for each to believe what each wants to.

After all everything in life really is about faith. We all have faith. It is just in what faith we believe......

Yes, you are right about that; 22% ticked no religion, but a further 9% didn't answer the question and these are generally considered mostly atheists, but that's hard to say. So we are probably approaching 30%.
I do know some people, who put down the religion of their parents or grandparents as "that's the tradition I descend from" but never set foot in a church, nor admit to really believing any of the myths associated with that religion.
My first ex was one of those. Strange view that, but to each their own.

Christmas to me has always for years been about that mad rush to complete things by Christmas. "We hafta have that report by Christmas" "We want the pergola finished by Christmas!" Not to mention buying gifts and what not, for people who have everything.
So there is this huge sense of relief when it finally does get here and I can relax for a change.

To me faith is the weakest word in our dictionary. Having faith to me means that a person is looking for a miracle or to receive something without effort.

Just hoping it won't be too hot. Have lunch with family and try not to eat and drink too much but that doesn't usually work sigh

Right off Christmas at the moment, I would love to be whisked away to a nice resort for a week to lie by a pool and have room service. :w

My youngest sister lives with me now that her husband left her. I am the eldest of 5 and the siblings between me and youngest sister have intellectual disabilities. We are having them over to our house for a BBQ, gonna roast some chickens and pork and vegies on the barbie. We will eat outside under our lovely old elm tree in the dappled shade.
Merry Christmas to all.

I have spent the last three Christmas days alone, and I LuV the idea .. When I had the kids at home it was always full on, with them and my family coming over for dinner ...

There are people I could spend the day with though for me I'd rather spend the day alone and reflect the years passed and cherish memories of days past, along with those whom are no longer walking amongst the living ..

Now New Years Eve, well this to me is ParTy time .... drinking
