What is the purpose of the Hadron collider.

Is it for creating new revolutionary energy purposes.

Is it also for working out how to develop new ecosystems.

Could its findings be used to create new ecosystems here and
in our universe.

It's a device that helps to unravel the nature of the fundamental structure of sub-atomic particles. We all know atoms are made of protons, neutrons and electrons, but what are protons composed of? Quarks. Well what are quarks made of and what holds them together? Why do electrons keep on spinning around a nucleus in an atom without (apparently) ever slowing down? What "causes" gravity? We all know two bodies with mass will attract each other, but why??
These are the types of rivetting questions that the collider may or may not answer.
Out of the options you mentioned, I think maybe the first one could get a boost from this research.

If you have ever read or saw "Angels & Demons" (Dan Brown), you may want to think about what some research can really lead to. A lot of research is ultimately "militarily" aimed. Okay, it starts out to benefit mankind but there is always someone who wants to use this research for their own personal gain.

Einstien said "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." And this does break down to our own personal lives.

Any new technology can and is used militarily. The argument is always: "If we don't use this, some other country (the enemy) will."
Should we go back to the stone age and throw spears at each other?

I don't need to read a fiction book to see where research can lead to. Both good and bad. I'm sitting behind one good one now.

Back in the early 70s, we had a guy (Nori) from My Hagon New Guinea staying with as part of his University Prize. Was supposed to be 3 weeks but ended up being 6 weeks because we learnt a lot of things about his family's life that my father had not seen during WWII and Dad extended it.

My brother taught him how to throw a boomerang. He loved it..."I can throw that and it will come back to me if I miss. If it hits someone and draws blood, end of fight. So much better than losing spears."

My way of saying what he said.

like Obs said “It's a device that helps to unravel the nature of the fundamental structure” in this understanding quantum mechanics takes over with new technology. Some things that comes to mind , the super computers(Spintronics)medicine (Quantum Dots) security (Quantum cryptography) too early cannot think right now but it is endless progressive understanding.

Thank you Conrad
So should have looked into it more got better understanding
now but lol still limited.
Does this fit in much with nanotechnology.

No, that's to do with much bigger things - around a few nanometers in size, eg small particles, carbon fibres, or "nano machines".

Ok Obs

Atoms for hadron collider.

Particles for nanotechnology.
