AgentAjax: Do you have a story and want to share it?

Not a story as such but the best and worst years rotate through life like the sun and the rain. Each one follows the other and has it's time and place.

My best years included my childhood before 10, when I was 17 had my first job and felt all grown up, when my children were born and I was a young mum caring for my brood, joining the workforce again after a long break to raise the kids, and now. Finding myself again after they have all flown the coop. grin

Worst years include my parents divorce, my kids teenage years when they were pushing the boundaries and I was a single mum. That was hard work mentally. The first year after my last son left home and I had to figure out what the hell I was going to do with myself outside of work.

Looking back there were tough times and great times and the funny thing is I should have cherished my younger days more than I did but was always striving for more. Then I reached a time in my life where I realised I had it all and didn't know it.

That's the irony I guess. conversing

How about sharing a story of your own AA?

Last week I was sent to fix up the air conditioning in one of the units I renovated many years ago, it was my best effort at renovating considering I done it 11 times before on different apartments. This one was different fore it was the first place that truly felt like home.My son was only 4 years old at the time, I had a great job but this was also the place where my marriage ended. As I was working away on the aircon I came to realize those were the best and the worst years of my life.

The best years for me were in my twenties when I worked for a UK based travel company and I was paid to be based in Spain and the Greek Islands! banana banana banana

Had the time of my life, good job, good friends, great money, great boyfriend, worked hard but played even harder danceline

And I knew at the time that it was a job that I could only do at that age - single without kids? cheering

Worst years have to be when I got divorced. Went on for way too long and sucked the life force out of me. Dealing with a person who was domineering, bombastic, and angry sent me to the wall - almost. I made a promise to myself that whatever happened I would not let it defeat me. It made me crawl back up every time I was kicked down - but I got there cool

Hindsight is a beautiful thing - but something we don't have at the time?

Best years would be 03-05 running feral here with my two sons . Living off the point of a knife . Picking up tea on the way home from school meant nailing something ,wriggle meat . If it was not wriggling when put in a pot or pan then it was not fresh fresh .Rain in the morning two wet to bike out to school had us after pork in the arvo . No TV taught the boys to read and write one is a published author . Worst time was when my darling not too much X wife decided she wanted to gather up the kids again . Custody battle ,which I lost with one child , combined thousands were spent . Then the mother of my children received both a promotion and an ultimatum from her current ,either he goes or I go . I can recite the phone message telling me to pick up the child .

This song was my 'go to' when I needed a pick up - still love the music!

"moving on up, moving on out, time to break free - nothing can stop me!"

Just love it!

It's interesting that I look at what others would consider the worst years of my life with a easy sort of reflection. Being homeless, being beaten, being unsure of where I was heading in life... I found that they were the most defining, so whilst others might say they were bad... I believe they were the better years.

Gosh... that is sad Abagail... but so good that you can reflect with confidence and optimism ... wine

For me... my years have been good... mostly... I chose to make the best I could with what I had... I tend to be very self sufficient, and I can say... I really enjoy what I have now.. as much as I enjoyed the last 20 yrs of dancing, and all the years before.. I cant say any year in particular ( apart from 1985) was a bad one.

I have always had work, money, travel on the go... and found things to amuse myself with.. and I guess I will continue on in that same vein... I have never been poor, I have never been beaten, I have never been anything really.. so I cannot and don't complain..

Thank you, Merri. It's not sad though, it's simply life. People have had it worse, some have had it better. I have always said what counts in a person is how they face adversity.

I have everything at my fingertips these days and I can't say I enjoy life more than I did when everything was a challenge.

As for being 'anything' ... You are 'Merri' and she is unique.

Best and worst? How do you "survive" when you have married someone you see as being a very much stronger person and they can't deal with things? And then they put all that crap on you?

My best was having 2 great children with someone I loved dearly. My worst was being seperated from them during their informative years.

Oh Abigail...

When things turn out adverse... I think of it all as an adventure ... and acknowledge that this is an adventure...and see where it leads..
by acknowledging it ... It doesn't seem so bad.. at least not bad enough to go on about it...

Inner strength is the key to all...

sounds like you have an abundance of inner strength too. wish you well for whatever shows up on your doorstep... bouquet
