Nearly 2 weeks ago on the Friday, I had all of the symptoms of the flu - lightheaded, aching joints, short of breath - but oddly enough clear lungs. Better on Saturday but feeling better still on Sunday although short of breath and weak. Bit better Monday. Only slightly better on Tuesday so went to see doctor, he said something about heart not being right and so striaght to hospital.

Emergency Department said after a few tests I had just had a massive heart attack (based on the heart-secreted enzymes in my blood) and it was good that I had gotten there so quick - they thought it was that day until I said that this was the best I felt since last Friday. One thing and another, Thursday I had an angiogram (they were worried that my pulse rate was 37 per minute) and they found a blocked artery. Took 2 stents being inserted to open it up again and blood to flow again. And then another 3 days for things to improve back to "normal" with a pulse rate of 60 per minute.

My brother (older by 2 years) had an heart attack 2 years ago this month and so I have had a couple of tests since when I have had chest pains (all clear). Everyone I know who has had an heart attack has told me about "severe chest pain and numb left arm/fingers." I didn't have either. The doctors have said that I was very lucky to survive.

After spending a week in hospital, I have learnt that not all heart attacks involve sharp pains in the chest, in fact they can be very mild or no pain at all. Mine felt just like my arm resting across my chest.

Home yesterday and had the best sleep I have had in many months. And now very much aware that I will be going to the doctors every time I have a sniffle (not quite) instead of thinking I will be "over the flu by tomorrow."

Things are sort of okay. Went to see doctor today (not my normal one as he has taken holidays). This doc was consulted by my doc - said he was surprised I didn't get pacemaker put in.

But need to go and start rehab soon as they can fit me in. Not sure how long it takes but there goes all my plans for the next few months. No quick drive up to Sydney to see the grandson when he is born - need to rely on someone to drive me on anything but short trips until things are sorted. No great holiday in remote Central Australiafrustrated frustrated after setting my vehicle up over the last 6 months.

And no taking over the photo comp this month as my son-in-law downloaded some stuff to his iPhone using my wifi and used up all my data allocation....very slow until the next period starts in July.

Only has 2 seats....and a double bed on tophead banger Could be a bit tight at times.

And it doesn't get too warm now which is why we travel this time. Up around 20-23 degs during the day. But does get a tad cool during the night. Noticed it was -3 degs at Alice Springs a couple of nights ago but mostly nudging zero at sunrise.

Still waiting to find out about rehab - means I can't really do anything until that starts & ends (several weeks).

My daughter is going to drive me up to Sydney next weekend (if baby born this week). She has been extrememly good to me the last 2 weeks.

Double bed is fold-away for travelling, it would be a very tight squeeze.rolling on the floor laughing

Probably have to sit on the roof while travelling aka National Lampoon holiday with granny on top.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
