Would you just up roots.... (45)

Hiya Lookin, I did this once, but kinda not intentionally.

I planned to stay for 3 month in Ireland to improve my English and get the experience of living in another country, then I got one job I had offered for a year. I stayed that year, than another - it's nearly 10 years at this stage.

Because I didn't plan to stay there, I didn't "settle" but built up a life of my own, friends, hobbies, found places where I liked to live. I was with someone for a couple of years, but I'm glad I had my own life built up when that ended. It was bad, but he wasn't the reason why I was in Ireland and then it wasn't a reason to go home.

I do want to settle myself down, I do miss having a home and I just have to see that I do this for myself at some stage. If I have that, I don't think I'll move anywhere else.

I couldn't see myself doing this again - a new country, building up a new life, friends, jobs...

It is good that I did it and I think it made me stronger and my life is very different to what it would have been if I had stayed in Germany, but once is enough.

So what about you Lookin?

I doubt very much I would ever move to another country for someone. I wouldn't expect anybody to do it for me eitber.

However, I wouldn't mind if they moved from another part of this country to be closer to me!

What would your answer be, Lookin????
