In a land of only a duopoly in government (no real freedom to vote for who people really want - the only real choices are Liberal or Labour) it is like choosing what softdrink you want. Sprite, or Fanta. They are both owned by the same company.

Our governments are stooges and owned by wealthy corporations, and laws that are passed are passed only in such a way as there are loopholes to ensure that wealthy business owners and corporations do not have to pay the taxes that the workers have to pay.

It doesn't matter Liberal or Labour, they are really tarred with the same brush. The last true statesmen and stateswomen I can recall was when the Queensland Senate passed the law disbanding themselves!

Oh how the other states should follow and relieve the country of political fatness....

Then again, our entire population is governed by a single municipal government overseas, so why do we need 3 layers of government (plus the bureaucracy that goes with it)? Only to ensure that those who would want to play kings and queens keep their fat cat wallets full.

Halv0 wave

So today... Tony somehow kept his job... boxing

It wont be for long, applause

all of a sudden he is offering all sorts to gain some measure of popularity, but this is the slow death for him.. This slow death comes because the 39 who voted against him, is the whole of the back bench... he has no vote ... a

nd slow death, because no one walks out of a Power job, and the loss he would feel from losing power psychologically is about as nutty as you get when you lose something that gives you prestige, money and power.

So now, irrationally, he will be offering anything and everything to keep his position..

By his own admission, he has not done well at all since becoming PM.. doh grin

But did he offer to refund his wages... Nope..!!uh oh

and lastly Halvo...

my favourite topic... we are governed on three tiers... Fed. State and Local... doh

we need to get rid of either local or state... and there should and eventually hopefully, will be a referendum around which to go..

and happy to debate why to get rid of local until the cows come home..

Abbott & the Human Lefts Commo-nissioner are having a bit of a ding-dong. It seems that the BSS Party (Boat Smuggler Supporters Party) reckon the best way of getting into Australia is to have some kids with you - the latest report says kids should only spend 4 weeks in detention and therefore it means that their parents (tell them they are your kids "oh please, Honorably Sirly Sir, we lost all our papers when our leaky boat was sinking) have to be free to make sure that the priests, ministers & rabbis don't molest them.

Oddly enough, less boats to our shores since Lib/NP took over and children quicker out of detention facilities.

Tis a bit hard to answer that one. Ex#1 arrived here by boat and I have 2 wonderful children. Okay, Ex#1 has made a worthwhile contribution to Australia over the years she has been here - I have probably received more in the last 6 months from the Federal Govt than she has in her 54 years here (not counting the CSA thefts she got from me).

Uncle Jim (not a real uncle but...) was an illegal Chinese immigrant who managed to live here for 20 years that I know of to enable his wife and daughters to survive in Hong Kong. His aim was to see them married and he worked hard to get them a decent dowry.

Sister-in-law's brother Ambu stayed in Australia and overstayed his visa by about 6 years (he worked his own business and payed taxes but no Medicare benefits). Was only because when he wanted to get married to a nationlised aussie that he had problems. But he is here now and married his nationlised aussie girl.

Ah, It seems that Tony Abbott has taken a back seat (and rightly so) in favour of discussing "refugees".

Now, in my limited logic, a refugee is someone who is fleeing death, torture, etc in their own country. So why are these people so angry that they will be settled in a land where they are no longer being killed, tortured, etc?

Why, in 2012, when there were just about 2.2 million refugees data collected, were only 120,000 found to be true refugees, while the rest were financial refugees?

How can these "poor" people afford the astronomical prices for these boat trips, when it costs less (well it did until TA & BH got into power) to apply through the correct chanels?

Now I must laugh. My wife is Chinese, yet she keeps asking me why so many 'foreigners' who don't believe in the Australian lifestyle, community, and values, can protest and behave like lawless outlaws and have no consequence?

She does not understand how people who should be grateful for this land are offered so much by our government, yet our government gives so little to their citizens?

These are all good questions and I cannot give her an answer, except to say that our country is being ruled by puppets of the corporgovernments that seek to distabilize our equality and remove our freedoms.

This can be achieved not only through economic actions designed to crush the masses and increase the power of the rich, but also through fracturing the cohesive society to ensure that the citizenry do not stand up unified against this usurpation of government and this power grab.

But my Anna is a simple woman who sees the truth more than many of the Australians born here do. She asks me how come we put up with this?

What answers should I give her? Anyone?

Because, they want to be in the mainland with the rest of their family who has come out in dribs and drabs, and they want to settle in a nice home, so that other family members can join them... ( non of that should be hard to figure)

Why, in 2012, when there were just about 2.2 million refugees data collected, were only 120,000 found to be true refugees, while the rest were financial refugees?

Because, it is the nature of people to come where others tell them it is good to be.. because if there is unrest in their own country, stands to reason that there will also be job insecurity..

How can these "poor" people afford the astronomical prices for these boat trips, when it costs less (well it did until TA & BH got into power) to apply through the correct chanels?

Because these people have managed to scrape a roll by contributions from all the family members they can manage to... and no they don't want to sit in a refugee camp somewhere else when their goal was Aus. because a refugee camp takes years ... and they think it will be faster to come any means to their destination. but you knew that.. ??

Now I must laugh. My wife is Chinese, yet she keeps asking me why so many 'foreigners' who don't believe in the Australian lifestyle, community, and values, can protest and behave like lawless outlaws and have no consequence?

and they cannot... tell her its just a few who behave badly..

She does not understand how people who should be grateful for this land are offered so much by our government, yet our government gives so little to their citizens?

Because we have a PM who is not compassionate and out of touch..

simple really, anyone who says he is going to shirt front Putin, and then , one glare from Mr Putin, turns our PM to jelly n melted ice cream all in a split second. ... well.. says it all dontcha think??

Tell her also, that our PM is going to be outted soonish, he is on probation , (put there by himself) to start governing with a more communicative and transparent ... oh... pigs fly too...

But my Anna is a simple woman who sees the truth more than many of the Australians born here do. She asks me how come we put up with this?

Tell her that by voting Campbell Newman out, wont be long before more head his way, and this is how we get back at them...

What answers should I give her? Anyone?

I'm currently reading 'Pakistan', a book written by Imran Khan conversing

Within that, he mentions the influx of Afghani refugees (amongst others) that were accommodated without question by Pakistanis who had next to nothing, but were willing to share what little they had...
