Mercurialism is the religion I recently founded........... it embraces a philosophy of being nice to Philistines and accepting other people's cultures even if that includes eating cute little puppy dogs - however cannibalism is frowned on.
To join all you have to do is send me one dollar per annum - the purpose, naturally, of all religions is power over other people and a steady and exponentially increasing income stream for the priests of the religion who do all the hard work marketing the religion.
I am not a greedy religious person - once I have one million followers all sending me just one dollar per annum I shall bless everybody and think pleasant thoughts about them as I meditate on all my blessings as I watch beautiful sunsets from my private yacht and sip yummy drinks served to me by beautiful scantily clad ladies.

Religion is one good guiding light, one of the best foundations for moulding one's character, one's discipline, one's faith and convictions.
As it is based on wisdom and love for oneself & others, its influence knows no bounds -- it all depends on one's interpretation of it.
I, for one, 't has led me to believe that there is goodness in everyone.

Religion is essential, I agree with Amarylllis! Without being taught to religiously get out of bed in the mornings .. to go to school, to brush your teeth, wash your face, brush your hair, dress in clean clothes ... and when you grow up to go to work every day that your boss is paying you for ...... Well if you don`t do those things RELIGIOUSLY ..... you gonna have a VERY hard life!

Right, Smoky. That's more or less what I was trying to convey..
If you don't brush your teeth, you'll have gingivitis or tooth decay .. that's hard .. very hard .. How insignificant as it may seem, it can still make life difficult for you.
And life can still be hard even if you had a windfall and you don't have to go to work, .. if you don't brush your teeth .. and you don't do it, as Smoky says, religiously.
