gillyloves69: I met Brian Hoare the guy that's been camped out on parliament square green campaigning against the Iraq war

You mean Brian Haw. Well, I am not much acquainted with that particular case, neither in the anti Iraq movements dunno

I have been more active with issues as the oppression of indigenous in Amazons, the Iran inconsistency and of course, fair energy and fresh water for all.

The AGA, is the Action Group of Africa, a clever little thing aiming at putting people more in control over who is ruling the AU and setting its policies.

I really like their message and I have good hopes of seeing them grow to a proper rights organisation that will help giving control back to where it belongs.

1. why you choose to do what you do ?
Some payback to society (it comes with age)

2. what was life like for you before that ?
Peaceful.

3. what you feel you get out of doing what you do ?
Helping some people (or animals, or trees, or whatever) who are in need of help, when everyone else is too busy to do anything.

4, what the organisations like ?
Sometimes there is no organisation, and sometimes the organisation exists but needs ground staff.

5. do you like or hate the other volunteers ?
They all in it for the same reasons, or their own reasons.

6. does your face fit ?
Who cares!

7.what you feel the organisations have recently gained ?
A bit more credibiity by showing some action!

8. what they might be trying to achieve?

Depends on their aims, and which org I was helping.
"The Arbour Society" in SA - We saved some ancient trees from death.

"The Monkey Society" in SA - We educated tourists on what NOT to do.

"The Reptile Rescue Squad" in SA - Recruited volunteers to rescue snakes during and after veld fires, and treat their burns.

The "Indigenous Flora and Fauna Society "- Educated householders to tell the difference between exotic and indigenous insects/reptiles/amphibians/plants.

"Life Line - Suicide Intervention Team" - Intervening when people believe their only solution to their life problems is suicide.

"Baby Seal Culling" - Attending mass demonstrations, and voicing objections to people wearing second hand animal skins taken off the original wearer in cruel and inhumane manner.

"Generations in the Classroom" in CH - connecting youngsters with their elders, promoting respect, polite behaviour, and communication skills between the generations.

9. the possible history behind it all ?
The history behind all the above is just NEGLECT of the basis of humanity, the neglect of training of children as they grow up, and the increasing affluence of society that believes money solves all problems.

10.and why anybody would want to do it ?
Most people are not interested to do anything other than talk - very few actually Walk the Walk!
