RayfromUSA: But first you gotta unclog the sewer line paint the ceiling and find out what's wrong with the computer.

That's how these things work.

Yeah but Ray... you might as well make yourself useful while I'm in the kitchen cooking my little socks off for you! Work up an appetite, you know...

Phoenix: That's a fundamental Q...I'm very happy you do...

Oh no, that won't happen. Something different goes wrong every single day! You might just get fat with all those good dinners and crumbles, mind you...

And then you'd need the exercise of fixing stuff around the place... see how it works?

mike69spain: My experience is that in Sweden men should be equal to women and women equal to men. Hence, you change your own lightbulbs.

Same in Norway, you want something fixed, you do it yourself...grin

Women or men does not mean all but in my experiences and what others around in life have told me.

I thought men in Norway were a little better. You know the way they joke about each others.I worked with one and he
was very nice. I do not know so many men from Norway

You are right in Sweden it is suppose to be equal but in reality it is not.Someone told me that they are told not to tell the truth outside.I wish as I said I could do it myself .Woman are very tuff here and very smart but I have seen men go first in spite of that. Men make more money often and get better breaks. You know the all boys club. Some woman try to act like men when they are smart enough to just be themselves. Some men are only nice to woman they like.

Sorry but I still like the doors to open from me. I have learned to open my own car door here. Some foreign men here have taken on the Swedish men traits. Some Swedish will
show you a side you rarely see they open doors etc and very consider. Here it is the extreme in both cases. You have to experience it to believe it. I am not talking about being a tourist. If anyone decide to live here I will give you tips so you not too shocked . It took me years to find out the truth
I thought Sweden was a utopia. Dum me

venere08: Help with your plumbing. Hmmm...interesting.

And you thought that meant fixing the kitchen sink?

If we could it would have been on the list too.

Damned nature to add one irreversible difference to the equation, this way we can never become truly equal... dunno moping

Well, in Australia, plumbers will always for your sink.

Not sure why you have such problems.

Mind you, I always try and pour enzymes down the drain first, if that fails, then call the plumber.

Wherever possible, I try and do things myselfs. Years ago, in my younge days, I even painted the roof of a small beach house of mine, polished all the floor boards of an entire 3 bedroom house, painted walls, etc.

I am nowl considering painting the roof of my current home, as the angle seems to be gentle enough, and soon to paint the exterior walls of my house in the country.

Generally, in life, you get what you pay for .... or what you deserve!cheers

...................

One thing I learned .... when a workman arrives, check out his toolbox .... if he has a well fitted complete array of tools you got a better chance of having a decent job done.

Once a "plumber" arrived at my house (in SA, where else?)...carrying an auto`s water-pump pliers! Needless to say, after he left at end of the day, and I turned on the water ...... it sprayed out of every joint he had made!!!!!rolling on the floor laughing Next day, I locked the gate so he couldnt get in and met him there with a 20 buck note to cover his travelling costs and told him to piss off.

I rent the flat I live in so I have no grief with plumbing or electricity. When something doesn’t work as it would, I phone or write a mail to lend-lord and get the thing fixed either the very same day or the next. Costs a lot in terms of the rent money, but in the long run is much cheaper than awaiting and then getting “help” from certain “Samaritans”.roll eyes

...once upon a time when I lived in now the ex’s house in the country side... but that’s another story...

He phoned the other day and complained that the water pipes in his house have frozen (they had -39C there) and he has to go to neighbours in order to use toilet or take a shower or fetch some drinking water. Haven’t forgotten to point out, as usual, that I’s stupid that left him (this holy man) and his house (this paradise on earth)... Well, the man still has ability to make me laugh, such a darling.

You are a brave smart woman I admire you for doing that. It that had happened in Sweden he would have demand payment
anyway. They charge from when they leave their company. If the Plumbers forget anything and must go back you are charge too. If you do not pay you get a bad rating. The government can get involved and stop you from using your credit card
