Phoenix: Thats what I'm planning on doing tomorrow plus talking to a fairly high up cop I know...

I've resigned myself to losing the personal things..but I'm not letting this go...The music will be replaced and so will the guitars....But someone will pay (not just me)..i know a place not far from me where I can get free legal advice..It just beggars belief..I don't believe they (my stuff) was thrown on the street..500 cd's, guitars....personal papers (it was all in boxes).I RECKON THEY WHERE STOLEN AND THE PAPERS BURNT...

I've an idea what people feel like after losing everything in a house fire...
Ja, it is a terrible feeling! An invasion of your privacy, and a terrible blow by those you trusted!

It takes a bit of time, but eventually that horrible feeling will begin to fade until its just a bitter sad memory.hug

Tis theft, personally I suspect your friends. A tenant has the same rights as an owner occupier. If an owner lets themselves in to a rented house without the tenants permission it is still classed as an illegal entry and the removal of anything is theft. Thats the easy part, I.ll post you more later when I have more time.

In response to: Yesterday I discivered that I lost 500 cds and 2 guitars...
I've lost tax papers, court papers, photo's,silly things my monsters made me, personal letters from home.....lock stock and two smokin''A friend' was looking after them in her garage and when I went to collect them i discoved than 'according to them 'the landlord' turfed the lot out...

Can I charge them(anyone) with loss or theft...or just put it down to experience...

The total figure of the cd's abnd guitars is around 5,000-6,000 euro..

Go to the police and register the theft and let them deal with it. When the "friend" is interviewed by them as i am sure they will invite them to thier premises it will be as they say "it all comes out in the wash" Sommat very fishy bout this one lad.

cheers cheers

Yes, when stuff goes "missing" ... you register it with the police ... so if and when it turns up they know who it belongs to!

And also ...... sometimes there are connections .. with adresses, names, frequency of this habit, and at least it is logged!

Hi Phoenix,

I am a landlord (in Los Angeles) and of course the laws are different, but these are questions you might want to ask, maybe you are able to go to the authorities.

1. Is there a rental agreement?

2. If so, does the agreement mention anything about about who is allowed to have keys to the property?

3. If the landlord has the keys is he supposed to give notice to tenant stating that he is entering the property?

4. Is there a possibility that your friend could have taken the property or that she could have given a key to someone without your knowledge.

5. Are there witnesses as to the property you put in the property and as to the fact that it is now missing.

Basically, if you go to the authorities or if you want to pursue legal action, you definitely need proof, without it you will probably not be able to do anything to recover your lost property.

A mucker is Belfast-Irish slang for a close friend...Someone who you can count-reply on when the chips are down...Even if you haven't seen them in a while..Almost like a brother...
