My holiday is cancelled ..... I am passport-less and a prisoner in the Schweiz.
But, will be taking Monday off from my meaningless existence to recover from the festivities on Sunday 1st August - National Swiss Day ... watching the Swiss light the bonfires on the hills .... and setting off fireworks to celebrate something or other from the past ....(I think it`s something to do with their Independence..or Confederation...?..Conrad will update on that...) ... and much alcohol consumption is predicted for Sunday evening....
And then .... when SA decide to find my passport and send it ... I will be heading down to some place with a beach and hot sunshine.....later, when prices return to normal!

Oh thank you Maisie. Yes I certainly hope I get my passport ... BEFORE it`s time to renew it again in ten years time!They said FOUR months ... and I`m now waiting EIGHT months! But the Soccer thing upset all the plans - the entire government went on holiday and they only getting back into gear now, but they going on strike next week again ..... schools, hospitals, police, garbage collectors, food inspectors ..... all government departments ... they want more pay, for less work .. or something like that .....

Ahhhhh .. the SA Embassy in Berne. Ja .. I am VERY good friends with ALL the staff there .... we all on first name terms too. Gosh, they even recognise my telephone number and dont even pick up anymore when I phone..... So that tells me it aint arrived yet ..... They are all very embarassed by this, and offer profuse apologies - so I`ve given up embarassing them... and just wait patiently, and detour around all the higgly piggly pieces of Germany that intrude into Switzerland....
I think it`s time I bought up all those little pieces of Germany ... they make such a mess of Switzerland! The holes in the Swiss Cheese is inspired by those pieces of Germany.
The other day, in the forest, I had one foot in Germany and the other in Switzerland. Lucky there was no Border Guard there to arrest my one foot!

I only been in the Emilio Bologna part of it ... and that was enough to cure me from ever going there again! Although I have heard that further south is much nicer...?... more "rural"?
And the guy driving the airport bus .. that bus thing from plane to terminal ... wore a Tshirt emblazoned with "Fear is in the eye of the beholder" and had all the passengers flinging around with his kamikazi driving style!
And relatives of my friends wouldnt even give me the "two cheek" kissy greeting until they knew how much was in my bank account ..... and how much property I owned and the value thereof ... and what my kids did for a living .......and I couldnt buy anti-biotics for a sinus infection ... or pain pills for a tooth that broke off ...... So I dont go into Italy anymore unless it`s to bring in a boatload of Nigerian refugees.
