Grow Old Gracefully?? I was in the Jazz bar for 9pm, later a young women friend came and persuaded me to join her and other friends at Tiffany’s.
At around 1am a group of us made our way to the Salsa club, spent the rest of the early hours dancing Salsa which I love.
Arrived home this morning at 4am with a big smile on my face, by the way I do not drink alcohol.
On my next birthday I will be 69, so is my way wrong??????.

Oh, you’ve got it absolutely right – the EU forum is the right place for broadcasting, boasting and marketing yourself.

Go Youngheart, go! head banger

The phrase "grow gracefully" does not have a place in my book of living and loving.....

There is a great shortage of guys like you in the more mature age group on CS, and there are sooooooo many young 'uns who seem to think that we should roll over and die once we get to age 50....

You carry on doing your thang and share it with us on CS how ya doing it! (By the way, dancing is the joint first best form of exercise... we all know what the other one is wink).... applause dancing

Hello Tulefel, never thought of it as boasting however maybe you are right. So what the hell why not market myself.
Was at the gym 5 mornings this week followed by Jacuzzi and sauna.I paint in water colours and pencil draw also write poetry and short stories.Love photography and make movies of my photos complete with music backing. Will dance to any music regardless of if I know any of the steps. Not well educated but will fix anything even if it is not broken.

Good for you, there’s nothing else to say but keep it that way as long as possible if it what you want.

I reacted on the word “graceful” – there’s people that can’t be as active as you because of different reasons: health, or job, of necessity to take care of others. Is their aging not graceful?

Hello Telefel,
You ask the question ‘are they not graceful ‘? Of course they are graceful and I feel for everyone who is not as fortunate as me.
I like to think that I am a very caring person and you would have to go deeper than just the words I post on here to see that.
I feel I am one of the luckiest people around to be able to do what I do at my age and thank my God every day for taking care of me.
The statement ‘Grow old gracefully’ is a broad statement and you can interpretate in many different ways.
I refer to people who are capable of many things as they get older but choose the excuse of their age not to.
I prefer to think positive and not look back and say ‘What If’ Ok sometimes I try things that I pay for in aches and pains after but I gave it my best shot.
So please do not put me down for being the way I am, life is too short for negative thoughts.

Hello Taff1
I go to the Jazz Bar (smooth Jazz) 5a Church Street,Paceville just down the road almost to the corner on the same side as Portomoso super Market.Live music Friday and Saturday.
Also visited the Jazz bar at the very end of St Pauls bay, heading out on the left after all the shops have finished.
Live music Thursday and Sundays.
Hope this helps

I don’t put you down for the way you are, I just wanted to know what exactly you mean with “aging gracefully” and who are included in your definition.

As your first reply to the OP stated, Tule, the guy was talking about himself, so it does sound as though he is not actually speaking for the many others who choose to act in a way dictated by society they "should"....?... Rather he is talking about his own self.

I believe also that to be able to carry on enjoying the things one enjoys in life and not to be dictated to by how others think you should be behaving ..... well, there is much self-satisfaction and pleasure in that.

There are many many people here where I live, younger than me, who look, behave, and act, as though they are 20 years older than me!

I also dance till the sun comes up. Loll and frolic in rivers, wear a bikini (still! YES, and I have a better figure than most younger people I see in bikinis! and better than most young mothers!)....... Buy my clothes in teenager boutiques ......And don`t get hung up over trivial things.

The only inhibiting things are, for me, to do things a bit more sensibly than I did them as a youngster, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with carrying on in life with energy and verve and enjoyment of whatever it is ones enjoys!

thumbs up to that: there is nothing more satisfying that just being yourself and not giving a hoot as to how, what, when, where, and why I should behave! As long as I'm not harming anyone, SHOULDS are not part of my vocabulary anymore! dancing scold
