I have written a blog regarding a campsite I stayed at in Rome at the beginning of the month and thought - as people often mention places to stay in Itlay on CS - it might be useful for someone.

Hi rytcharlie,

I had a look at your blog. Lots of information, and I didn't read all of it. But it seems particularly useful for someone fairly new to this grand city, and even better if on a tight budget (but who isn't?)in Rome...Or someone wanting to try something really different for accommodation.

I arrive be in Rome this Friday lunchtime. The only thing is that, with a sizeable amount of luggage coming all the way from Aussie Land, and as of today, my father decided he's joining me!laugh...if we stay in Rome for a day, I will need to look for a place walking distance from Termini.

Glad you had a great time there.

thanks for the feedback, Ven. I wrote the blog to be of use for anyone unfamiliar with camping - or at least unfamiliar with camping in Italy. I agree in today's economic climate perhaps people are foregoing a holiday instead of examining alternatives they might otherwise take and ultimately be perfectly content with. I wrote the blog also to show Rome doesn't have to be 5-star hotelled to be enjoyed, unlike, say, Sicily, which I think does. There is a lot of detail in the blog, but hopefully not detail that is merely restating information that can be found elsewhere. I could have, for example, written a load on what to do in Rome, but such information is so readily available from so many sources that I would find adding anything unique difficult.

I hope you also have a great time. One day is hardly enough, but you've been to Rome before, haven't you? I presume, from the fact that you are having so much luggage sent, that you'll be in Italy for a while. How long are you coming for?

The centre of Rome was very hot, and so busy when I was there that I couldn't get near enough to throw a coin into Trevi Fountain - which means, according to legend, I won't be back .. I sure hope that's wrong!

it seems I missed you in Rome by about 3 weeks. Shame, another time maybe ...

have great trip cheers

It's a nice hotel, nothing fancy, but quite adequate for a short stay.

Besides most of the staff are AS Roma fans, hehe cheering grin

Absolutely. So much standard stuff elsewhere if you want that.
Yours was directly from your own experience, which puts a very different slant on things.

Oh, heck. Not SO much luggage... To me, one large case, and one carry on, is already too much!uh oh

Yes, shame about the timing. Mind you, I've had a couple of very kind invites from out of Italy. So it's tempting to extend my stay a little, as I found out today I don't need to be back until the following week. But I'll miss my dawg!
