Haaa! Nein, tis not what you were thinking!grin

My best friend here has a problem.... and asked me for advice .... And although I usually know everything there is to know about everything .... this one has got me stumped!

Her boyfriend still has an old wedding photo of him and his ex hanging on the wall in his dining room.

Now it is beginning to annoy her, but she is not sure how to go about getting him to remove it, happily and peacefully ......

His children are grown up, and he has remarked that it is nice for the children to see... when they visit.........

My personal opinion on this is for her to tell him to offer it to his children...?

What would you guys and girls advise as good advice?

Alive, unfortunately.

What if she was dead?

I once had a boyfriend who had an ex-wife...... who had since died, after the divorce .. and he had her photo (huge one) framed and hanging on the wall ........ Well, I was living in same house ... so I asked him if it was okay if I hung a photo of MY ex too? .......devil ..... the ex`s photo was soon removed and given to his daughter.

But this girl is not living in his house, although they are a couple.

umm Stumpy your smoked .. I mean Smoky your stumped, eh? ..

take a swig of whisky and leave this to superior minds - probably why you're asking us blokes anyway ..

typing .. umm .. well .. ooh .. arr !! idea

actually the solution is quite simple ...
paint a little moustache and devil's horns on the exwife's picture and leave a window open in that room - add extra foliage, foot prints etc for effect .. next morning look surprised and say - 'now who ever would break in and do that?'. dancing

You've answered yourself...Ask her to tell him to hang a pic of the two off them together beside the married photo....

I don't buy the bollicks of 'it's nice for the kids to see'..he probably still has feeling for his ex...(JMO)

I don’t regard myself as jealous, but I wouldn’t like if my current partner kept a photo of his previous flame, alive or dead, in a dining room in our home. That was then and there, and this is here and now. professor

But how to remove it without stomping on different people’s feelings (in this case his children)? An easy coup is to re-paint, or if there wall paper then re-wallpaper, the room and then “forget” to hang the photo back. To make it smoother you can “forget” to hang back few other things as well, as paintings and watch and whatever people hang on the walls in their dining rooms, and get some new paintings and watch and curtains and whatever, perhaps an enlarged photo of you and your current partner. Calls renovation.

Don't buy that eiter..If she (the ex) was such a great person for him...Why did they divorce...She's an EX not a HERE & NOW..

If he had any feeling for his new GF...He'd take it down...give away...or like radders said..Turn the face to the wall..

You`re not gonna believe this ...! But THAT was my second piece of advice - before I removed the knife from her hands with which she was gonna slit her wrists ..... nah just joking. My advice lacked something.

But maybe it was good advice....?

Now I go to reply to these other brilliant minds who have applied themselves to this problem.

Now .. I like that advice!

I think, this weekend, I get myself invited over ...... and tell her to get him out of the house for a while ... like a bbq and he cooks the meat ........ and I do some artistic work on it in the bathroom (just in case I get busted by him while removing the glass or putting it back!)

Hahahaaa .... I REALLY love that!

Ja, well, yesterday she bought a picture frame ... one of those with about 5 places for small photos, and has printed out pics from their holiday to put in and stand on the sideboard! But she still does not like that wedding photo.

Maybe we go with Charlies advice, if we can manage to swing it.

I love defacing photos. I know that ex ... and horns and moustache would suit her perfectly! What I love about Charlies idea is that no-one would notice ...... till they looked up close! It`s on the wall next to the curtains, and not very large .... just slightly bigger than postcard size...........and the ex has a habit of inviting herself around now and then ... her idea of "acting normal", but actually intimidating....... I wanna hear the howls thru the village when she spots her moustache and horns!!!!!rolling on the floor laughing

and - in true mode de femme - blame his lax security and ask if he intends to get you all killed .. walk off pretending to sulk while actually finishing said bottle of whisky .. tip hat

The problem Tule, is it is not my friends home. They live seperate, but she spends her time there.

A photo of me and my boyfriend would have no reason to hang in his dining room ..... hahahaaaa .... We planning on how to get rid of HIS old wedding photo ... without actually hurting his feelings!

So far ... I think telling her to

a) Turn it backwards while she is there ... or
b) Drop it and break the glass..... or
c) Re-design her face

..... are good ideas? Will wait and see if anyone else has any brilliant ideas.

Thanks thus far.
