Ja, the serious thinking books! The ones that jump off shelves into my hands! .. Those I keep!

Although, also I go thru masses of fiction for relaxation ......murder mysteries, love stories...... and those I just return to the dump and exchange for new ones ....We have a lovely "dump" where stuff gets recycled and I find all my english books there!

Yash124g: Hi Wedward,

I cannot accurately recall the title, and think I still have the book somewhere in storage, but was called something like 'Women at War' from the mid-80's. It was basically a collection of first-hand accounts of how women's letters and recollections from WWII.

It covered families from all nations and clearly showed how one's spirit survived through all types of tragedies, how they could always see the humorous side and most importantly of all, that wars only cause pain and suffering and showed never be allowed...

I also read Bill Bryson's 'Notes from a Small Island' and done a review of it when I worked in a book store and he is extremely good, but yet to read more from him, though I like your 'Short History of Everything' Charlie.

I would also recommend 'McCarthy's Bar: A Journey of Discovery In Ireland' as its pretty funny..
Enjoy your Sunday evening everyone..

Yep read McCarthy's ....its a great way to discover Ireland grin

Personally 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy just blew me away, Tolkien is brilliant.

It was like reading a different book, but the same. All my post first reading life experiences came into play and made me feel totally different, or it was more relavent to my life, compared to the first reading. So get re-reading guys an gals and enjoy.thumbs up
