It would be neat if CS added an XML formatted version or at least a stripped HTML version for use with mobile phone browsers. The latter should be fairly easy to do, as already the site is almost fully usable as is.

I have no idea, I so agree with you.

As usual, I haven’t understood what all this technical talk is about, but I prefer e-mail. Then I can read the massage when I have time and wish, and answer it if I have time and wish.

It different with the mobile phone: as rule is, it comes to life when you neither have time nor wish to talk. Sure, you can keep it turned off… but looks like it irritates those few people who have my mobile phone number. When they at last come through, the first they do is to express they discontent… Oh, my! If you only know, how they express they discontent! (And I never dare to ask what exactly they are discontent with. That my mobile is on?)

The suggestion is about reading the site on a mobile phone browser. Since I travel a lot, I often do not have the laptop handy, it's quicker to use the phones browser.

Oh, now I understand, thanks.

Never crossed my mind that somebody would like to read CS forums while travelling… laugh

But people are different: for me travelling is rare, exiting and physically wearisome thing. I wouldn’t have time or wish to read forums during a journey. But of course, it’s quite different for other people.

I tried for hours last week to set up my mobile to send emails to and from my PC....
My internet supplier sent me codes umpteen times and tried to talk me through the setting up, now all I've got on my phone is a home page but still not able to send and receive emails...
so I'm back sitting at my old clapped out computertyping writing

Mazza1970: or to read a book?

Is it possible to read a book in a mobile? Wow! Didn’t know: looks like I’m really a technical dinosaur.

By the way, is it possible to read a book in a mobile without a microscope?

Hi mike,

How is Andalucia?

I was recently in Italy and have a Nokia E71. I used it to log on to CS a couple of times for something to do while on half hour bus ride into town from the village I was in, as for some reason the phone actually found a free public wi-fi en route....

I just HAD to check my scammer email, and I wasn't let down. laugh I wouldn't bother using it to read the forums as I would have no interest on such a small device, and I never do searches on my lappy, so I'm not about to start on a mobile 'phone. Besides, in regional areas of Italy, it's a nightmare trying to get any meaningful internet or 'mobile ohone reception. I am now the proud owner of 3 Italian sim cards, Wind, TIM, and vodaphonedoh

Having said all this, what would a stripped HTML version look like? Would it be R-rated???giggle

Stripped code calls for PG-13, as a R-rated would leave little to imagination :)

Using a mobile device for internet, email and similar uses way less energy than using a stationary computer, so it would seem, to protect our future and still keep in touch with the world, its a better choice.

But most of all, I read a book when I go to sleep, I camp with friends and chat on the internet only when I have a spare 15 minutes in between things - that's when I am out and about.

IMHO more compact, less demanding programming, is a way forward in the IT world, not more powerful computers with useless and expensive bling-bling.

Well, this written on such a mobile device, I had to write it in a separate program and copy and paste it into the text box or I could see the full sentences I write.

I use internet a lot from it, particulary google translate and news services.
