CuspofMagic: Too busy ... making hay while the sun shines... seems like a long, late summer this year with the supposed "El Ninia" weather system we are experiencing... nevertheless Aust is still booming with some of the nouveau riche complaining of higher interest rates( 8% lol)the others are taking advantage of the high $A and frolicking in the European snow

I thought you have summer all year round

Lillym: Yep it is the responsability of the airport authorities to make sure that airplanes are able to fly. I believe Heathrow authorities were given a 'warning' by the EU. They really should have been prepared.

Well u are right but I think the airport autorities did not really take the EU warning into consideration. They thought it'll be like the volcano last time. When the simulation showed the direction of the wind in one direction and after the test flight it wasn't true.

Phoenix: Is any of the good folk been snookered by the weather...My mucker was last night offered to be put in a hotel for 5days (by O'Leary's Ryan Scare)..

He told them to stick their offer somewhere, where the sun doesn't shine...

Whats up with EU airline companies...They had all yr to plan for this...

So any horror stories...???

lifeisadream: Thank you!
You are very welcome here too.
We could think of some housing exchange and that would make less expensive the trips.

Wondering whether it’s a coincidence or a sign, but today I saw a film about two women, an American and an English, exchanging houses for a Christmas holiday (a sweet film that you wouldn’t want to watch again despite the constellation of very good actors…)

Though returning to the subject I must say that this arrangement wouldn’t suit me as I’d find myself mute and isolated in your country. I’m surely adventurous and courageous enough to manage on my own anywhere, but it would be a struggle, not a holiday. And nowadays I prefer a holiday instead of a struggle. Must be an age-thing…laugh

But my invitation remains nonetheless, if camping on a couch is ok for you.

You are right. It would be better to visit one to another and see the places together. In that way everyone gets the most as a visitor, almost as a local person.
A friend of mine from New Zeland did visit with me at the beggining this year and she was very impressed that she wants to come back. She spent a few days here and then we did spend 4 great days at the Huasteca Potosina a marvelous place regarding to nature, people, culture and cuisine (that is in my home state of San Luis Potosí).
Myself, I adapt to any place, any weather....I live a simple life in an old apartment but very downtown in a beautiful city that is Humanity Heritage by the UNESCO (as long as I have coffee, table wine and some natural food grin)

lifeisadream: It is not bragging it is an invitation to come to warmer places!
And please spend all the money you can to help our economies. Besides you get the change currency in favor.
Only if life was just that simple. I guess I must wait until retirement to move to a warm paradise.

rizlared: Not sure you can actually blame any specific airline, it is the airport authorities that control who can fly in or out, they are the ones who should have been aware that snow/ice was coming and made provision for it.
I was stuck for 2 days at Dublin airport a few years back, less than two inches of snow but only one snow plough by the time it reached the end of the runway, it was covered again
Perhaps we should have indoor runways...frustrated frustrated rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing devil devil

I would not wait to live where I want it the most and I would find a job in that place. Myself I have not a favorite one. My perfect way of living would be to go around some time here some time there and weather is not a problem. I love cold weather better than a hot one.
robsantiago15: Go easy on that wine.

When I was in school, of course that we used to have some drinks I even did smoke but once I knew I was pregnant (until school was finished) I stopped it at once and that is over 27 years ago now and I do not think I might drink or smoke again.

I have only table wine (vino tinto, blanco, rosado) and mostly for dinner.
coffee
