I don't see anything wrong with Paypal. I have an account with them and up to now have not had anything to complain about. Paypal are regulated and authorised by the FSA.
The rates to use it are a bit high in some cases.

if you buy something through them it is only going to the address you have registered with, you cannot ship a gift to someone else or to yourself if you are in a different location.
