A year ago I’s invited to a camp, their main activity was to pump iron, but patting a horse was also on the menu. I asked whether they are sure that the horse wants to be patted. Question made no success. (I ask too many questions, looks like.)

maybe you could have asked the Horse!
I think we take a chance anytime we get close to a Wild Animal! It is different with domestic Animals,but even they sometimes act totally different from what we expect from a domesticated one!
