I would like to discuss ‘infidelity’ between married couple - based on a true story, and to know you see it. And, your opinion indeed….

A married couple, with 4 children, of South-Asian origins living in one room apartment ( including kitchen and bathroom, but not the toilet, which is located in the hall way and shared by all the residents of that floor) in Paris.

The wife, around 38 years old, has an extra marital relationship for years with a guy - 25 years old from her own community - who lives in the next one room apartment. Two, out of 4 children, are believed to be from her lover not the husband. There is enough evidence to believe that her husband knew each and every thing about her wife and the guy, but pretends that he knows nothing! The relationship between husband and wife is going fine, while the wife is also maintaining a healthy relationship with the guy.

At the moment, I leave it up to you how do you see all this. I will include my input from time to time! Let us find out reasons and possible results of it

As I see this world, the only person in this story, who has reasons to be concerned about the situation, is the husband. If he is not concerned, I certainly don’t see why anyone else should.

I know another story: a young man (around 30) learned that he can’t father a child (don’t know physiological details), but he wanted a “normal” family – a wife and a child. So he started to come to the nearest maternity hospital and keep watch on who were leaving it. He looked for a woman with a newborn child but without a posse – a single mother. When he saw one, he made an approach and offered his help, as to catch a taxi and follow her home. He was doing that until one woman accepted his assistance. They got acquainted, and shortly after that they got married.

I know about this story because my friend was asked about her opinion when the child was in his teens and the question arose whether to tell him (and she then asked about mine). My opinion was: What for? These three people were functioning as a family for many years, the biological father didn’t care about his child, the only father the child knew was this man. So why to repair something that wasn’t broken?

dunno

This story does not match to a southern asian culuture and reality.

I suppose they should go back to South Asia and be stoned, a lover included also.

Well, South Asian culture is a combination of different cultures, values and traditions. However, the culture - of which all of the characters belong - does not have such incidents very common.

One of the respondent, came up with a very good point, which might have lead to the extra-marital affair of the wife; owercrowding. However, what I could not understand is that how come that the husband closed his eyes from the ongoing relationship between his wife and the boy next door.

Such events might be rare in the real life, but it does not mean they do not exist. They exist. However, the question arises about their frequency. What percentage of the couples might have such affaires ( on both men and women sides ).

Anyway, thanks all of you for contributing your ideas and observations.

Yes, it is true.
It is the husband who must be concerned with it. But, for unknown reasons, he does not seem to !

Roomi: Owercrowing; a good point.

Do you think that owercrowding might have lead the woman to have an affair with the boy next door?

In a word, No.. Marriage is marriage and if one is not willing to commit to their vows then they should separate and eventually divorce rather than complicate matters.. cool

Odessa, and a typical Odessean yard. A very early morning. Neighbours got awaken by voices from outside.

Disgusting male voice:
I can’t live with this terrible woman! The whole Odessa lives with her!

Shrilling female voice:
Good people, just listen to this freier! The whole Odessa can, but he cannot!

grin
