Aaahhh ok. So you eating Pigeons. When are you eating them? On Christmas day, or the night before. Did you feed them lots of peanuts? so they got nice and fat?

Me. I am invited to a traditional Swiss "Holy Night" family dinner at friends on Christmas Eve. And on Christmas day am invited to family dinner in Germany - a traditional South African Christmas lunch. Except this SA lunch is actually for hot sunny weather, not snow!

Well, at least I don`t have to do any cooking! I just look beautiful and elegant .... and drink and eat.bouquet

As I don’t celebrate any kind of Christmas, it’s going to be a New Year menu. Champs, of course, and Olivier salad (have already bought the ingredients).

But a “feast” for me is a state of mind in the first place, the rest can be added.

cheers

Our birds are nicely sitting on their pin. One has lost a lot of feathers from a wing, and now can only walk, the other watches the first – always ready to defend it. It calls loyalty and care, doesn’t it?

The day starts off with Rice Porridge, rye bread from the market place, cheese, meat, and lettuce...and Christmas tea.

Then comes Sauna...I had a cider after.

We had our dinner tonight:
Ham (Cooked over night in a traditional old oven)
Potato Casserole
Carrot Casserole
Rutabega Casserole
Pickled Fish (two kinds)
Cold smoked Salmon (two kinds)
Boiled eggs
Steamed potatoes
Green Pepper Pate
Smoked Ham Pate
Beet Salad
Pasta Salad
Mushroom Salad
Rasberry Salad
Macaroni Casserole for the children.

Dessert was Plum, Apricot, Apple, and Pear Fruit soup with whipped cream.

Santa came to visit and distribute packages...

Coffee was Bailey's flavoured Cheesecake, Christmas tarts (two kinds), Cinnamon S cookies, and gingerbread cookies. Also some Fazer Chocolates.

Now a trip to the graveyard to light candles and then on to Christmas Church.

Merry Christmas Smoky!

I had last night.

Mulled wine
There were also “ponches” a Mexican hot drink made of fruits, cinnamon, etc

Salmon Carpaccio (again)
Mussels cooked with fresh tomato and spices.
Romeritos
(Mexican dish, some green leaves with a sweet-dark pepper sauce and dry shrimps)
Cod fish a la Vizcaìna (A traditional recipe from Spain)
Home made bread
White wine

For desserts
Fruit cake
‘Tartaletas” filled with fruit and cream
Macadamia cookies

I was invited over some friends home and what I prepared were:
The home made bread
(black olives+ purple onion +dry tomatoes+olive oil+)
The mulled wine
Macadamia cookies

Oh, these ones live for 80 years, ours only are 6 and 4 respectively. Or 7 and 5? Should ask the baby-girl, she’s got their birth-certificates.

But for New Year we baked a pirog, and made salad Olivier (or course) – the greenz dove into it up to their arm bows… and drunk bubbles, and watched fireworks.

Poultry left yesterday… empty… sigh
