Does anyone have any tried and tested natural remedies for managing tooth pain? Once again I have tooth troubles. I was at the docs today and have to wait until Friday until they fix my problem. In the land of incredible hedonistic high tolerance pain bearers, aka Holland, I was of course given minimal over-the-counter pain killers. They are crap. I am nervous the pain will increase over the next 3 days. The last time I went through this I ended up in the emergency ward at midnight begging for painkillers. After 2 hours of whining, they gave in to me and sent me on my way.

But would rather go the natural way now, as it is also more gentle on the stomach I think.

Any suggestions?

Ah ha ... yes! Great grandmother Smoky knows it all, you are SO lucky to have me here!

You get down to some druggy shop and ask for "Swedish Bitters", and take about a tablespoon of it in a little bit of water in a glass, hold it in your mouth for as long as you can can, then spit it out. Do that a couple times, and the pain will subside, along with any "negativity" you have in your body.

Most any chemical shop dealing in drugs/natural remedies/homeopathy, will have Swedish Bitters which is a mixture of numerous old fashioned herbs.

It`s also a realy good natural cure for an alcoholic hangover if you take one teaspoon when you wake up with one of those headaches.

It cured me once, stuck in Italy with a broken tooth and sinus infection and no medical assistance except a bunch of illiterate Italian relatives.

Simple Imm...Roll the big one. It's natural, has great healing qualities and will work faster than anything else. You know it makes sense.

Hi Ven, wave I finally got the address of an old-time chemist who may have the cloves oil (Kruidnagel in Dutch - try saying that 5 times quickly). It's a bit of a distance from my house though. No one here had any idea about the Swedish bitters (Miss Smoky's suggestion).

But until I can get it, I will go with my prescription meds and gonna have that cognac before I sleep tonight. wine

And I just discovered that hot soup is a really really bad idea. The heat on my tooth provided an instant tooth, ear and headache. doh

And Rockabilly my friend.....no herb rolling for me. Herbs and me don't jive.

Thanks everyone!

New56....I hope your pains go away. Sensodyne is great, but you have to keep on using it or the tooth sensitivies come back. At least twice a day.

Imma, every country has it. I guess it`s in how you say the name?
It`s an ancient famous old recipe of about 82 different herbs in a tincture. If you say "Sweden" in your language there, and add that its a herbal mixture - they should get the drift.

Dear Friends,

I take back all my negative comments about the dentist lady I went to today. All the freezing is gone out of my mouth and I have not even felt a twinge of pain. I had a script for painkillers and have not even cracked open the bag. The lady is a damned miracle worker. But dang!....wish she had a gentler hand.

Sincerely,

A happy Imma

Thanks Rockabilly. Don't worry. All above board. Over the counter stuff (well, in North America at least) from a colleague. We are a terrible bunch here, known for stocking up on pharmaceuticals whenever we go home (Canada or the States) for visits.

Hi Imma, glad you got it all sorted...You might want to have swedish bitters on hand anyway(revolting taste though), but you need to make sure it's top quality or you could poison yoruself with too much camphor!...If you don't find the swedish bitters soon, try the German herbalist websites...

Or contact Hemmes Herbals in Adelaide, Australia.laugh...(Hilde Hemmes is trained as a herbalist originally from Germany). Her products are so pure. She is so approachable so yes, contact the company if you like. I think they can dispatch all over the world.

As an aside, I once chose to have root canal treatment with no drugs. Hate the stuff....the only one who was anxious was the dental surgeon. laugh
