How do you spend your money?

Do you always need to be buying new stuff?

Or are you happy with what you have, and just spend on neccessities like food and what you have to pay to live?

Let`s chat about this nerve-wracking subjectgrin

I think I've been cured from consumerism a long time ago. I only buy what I need. Anything *spare* will go towards a much needed treat for myself, or family members.

I've become immune to marketing/advertising gimmicks... NO ONE gives you anything for free!

For the last year I have stayed away from Shopping Malls - and it`s amazing how money just stays in my wallet!
When I look at my clothes, I`m horrified at how much I actually have!
I arrived in this country with 20kg of clothing - lovely - and now I have enough to outfit an entire African village!

Actually, when I see how hung-up people are with "changing fashions" - it makes me irritable. Or am I just getting old?!grin

I spend very little on myself, most of my clothes are years old (good job no-one wants to take me out!)and my family seem to absorb most of my spare cash.

That is all going to end once this year is over as I must start saving up to replace my car and I also plan to visit the UK next May, which usually costs me a fortune just to get off the island, flights are so expensive now.

My personal aim is to have only enough clothes to fit in a back-pack! I got there once, but living here in Switzerland and needing "winter" clothes, means I have to have TWO back-packs nowgrin

Ja, keeping the figure trim is what makes clothes look good, no matter what they are!

I`ve seen my fat friends, they keep buying new stuff to "improve" their looks ...... and still keep their old "thin" clothes, "in case / when / they get thin again, which never seems to happen?

Then they buy shoes, then jewellery ....... but it still makes no difference ...... The clothing size keeps growing! And money flies out.

Oh you are a good boy!grin Rainy day accounts are excellent ....... my mantra is "The only money you have, is the money you haven`t spent"! As soon as you`ve spent it, it`s GONE!

You must be a soft hearted person Maisie?

Listen to Phoenix ...... rainy day account starts NOW!

Kids have their whole lives ahead of them to save their own money cool

Search the flights. I did that last year, to visit SA, and found a flight that was half the usual fare! Depends on the day of the week. For some reason Tuesdays and Thursdays had cheaper flights!
Sometimes the more advance bookings are cheaper too.
