It's true--There are SPIES everywhere!.Your cell phone is tracking you, there are spies on facebook and a tracking file has been found hidden inside TVs.

Wall Street Journal, researcher Alex Pentland says, "Phones and electronic devices can know. People can get this god's-eye view of human behavior." One thing companies want to know is how to pinpoint "influencers"--the people in a community who influence others, when it comes to choosing a cell carrier, voting, or getting vaccinated. Once they do this, they can go right to the source, then watch their message spread.

tecnology an quantify human movement on a scale that wasn't possible before. I don't think anyone has a handle on all the ramifications.

are we watch' yes for sure.

"1984" predictions of Eric Blare have come true. Not all of them still.
It may be a matter of time?

Now the masses can be controlled in 2 ways, not only the old fashioned mass propaganda way, that as a matter of fact is so widely being used on many topics. One such is the Ukraine's over her refusing to join the EU.

Hi Lifeisadreamwave You still here I see! Nice to "see" you ...grin

But your computer is tracking you anyway.

Last week I was looking up hotels in Gozo, and now every other site I go to, there`s adverts for hotels in Gozo ... hahhaaa ..... my "computer" knows what interests me, I see?

Its not a camera you have to worry about - its a nice big new flat-screen TV, like everyone has these days.

Me? I`m sticking to the old fashioned box that I sometimes sit in front of, but only on snow-driven days when I`m totally bored. All it "could see" is me eating a bag of crisps!grin

Greetings to you Mr Bogart!

Another handsome young man here too! Wow, nice for the single ladies here!
(I`m the old granny who`s getting married, but I like to keep an eye on you young folk on CS - Its a sort of "hobby".)

It is quite amazing how many are brainwashed with new technologies.

And reliant on medications instead of healthy food.

Lives seem to consist of paying Insurances and Medical Aids, instead of "really living"?

You talk about the people in a community who influence others - SO true - very important I guess, to pin-point them.

Anyway, nice to know there are some folk out there who are aware of all this. I wonder what its going to be like in 20 years time?

This is a very uneasy feeling to know that we are being observed in our own homes, a place we once thought to be private. I hate to see what the next 20 years will bring. Is there anywhere we can call 'private'?

It must be because I have not TV to get entertained.

Eric also wrote "Coming up for air". Yes, that man was a thinker. At his time fought in Spain too.

Aaahhh ... Phoenix! Howzit?

I see you`ve still got your green beard?

I always wondered, reading statistics, just HOW tv companies know how many people get up and go out during commercials, which programmes get watched, how often, what people are doing while watching tv......... Its not just by random data gathering in shopping malls. grin

Parts from 'Coming Up for Air' by George Orwell (Eric Blair)

........................

Our dining-room, like the other dining-rooms in Ellesmere Road, is a poky little place, fourteen feet by twelve, or maybe it’s twelve by ten, and the Japanese oak sideboard, with the two empty decanters and the silver egg-stand that Hilda’s mother gave us for a wedding present, doesn’t leave much room. Old Hilda was glooming behind the teapot, in her usual state of alarm and dismay because the News Chronicle had announced that the price of butter was going up, or something. She hadn’t lighted the gas-fire, and though the windows were shut it was beastly cold. I bent down and put a match to the fire, breathing rather loudly through my nose (bending always makes me puff and blow) as a kind of hint to Hilda. She gave me the little sidelong glance that she always gives me when she thinks I’m doing something extravagant.

.......................

We didn’t talk much at breakfast. Hilda was in her ‘I don’t know what we’re going to DO!’ mood, partly owing to the price of butter and partly because the Christmas holidays were nearly over and there was still five pounds owing on the school fees for last term. I ate my boiled egg and spread a piece of bread with Golden Crown marmalade. Hilda will persist in buying the stuff. It’s fivepence-halfpenny a pound, and the label tells you, in the smallest print the law allows, that it contains ‘a certain proportion of neutral fruit-juice’. This started me off, in the rather irritating way I have sometimes, talking about neutral fruit-trees, wondering what they looked like and what countries they grew in, until finally Hilda got angry. It’s not that she minds me chipping her, it’s only that in some obscure way she thinks it’s wicked to make jokes about anything you save money on.

I had a look at the paper, but there wasn’t much news. Down in Spain and over in China they were murdering one another as usual, a woman’s legs had been found in a railway waiting-room, and King Zog’s wedding was wavering in the balance. Finally, at about ten o’clock, rather earlier than I’d intended, I started out for town. The kids had gone off to play in the public gardens. It was a beastly raw morning. As I stepped out of the front door a nasty little gust of wind caught the soapy patch on my neck and made me suddenly feel that my clothes didn’t fit and that I was sticky all over.

It's the Irishness coming out (happens in the run up to every Paddy's day)

Why don't people learn how to root their android devices, jailbreak their iphones and delete all the trackers your device comes with?

Stop using windows and migrate to a linux platform for example (there are loads of flavours)..

Learn how to hack and use the neighbours ISP (<--that is illegal but doable)..

I haven't owned a TV since 2007...

Yes, I'm having an old analog CRT tube TV and a offset-dish to watch the propaganda clashes going in the world. laugh That's often very amusing.
