How does the weather effect you, your mood or life?

Now that winter is on it's way, the days are getting shorter and dipping below freezing at night here in Alberta. I really hate the whole idea of it, and can't wait to get out of here. I'm moving as soon as I get this house done and sold to southern British Columbia where the temps are much more moderate and winter is a lot shorter.
The last two weeks have been nothing but high winds, cool weather with a bit of rain mixed in just to add to the misery. Today the wind is gusting to over 60 mph again and makes it difficult to do anything outdoors, and not enjoyable in the slightest, and it's only going to get worse!

I find myself getting a bit depressed and slightly miserable at this time of year and it only gets worse as it gets colder, snows and stays for up to 8 months of the year. WTF ever possessed anyone to actually live in such climes and make it their home?

Might have to take a trip somewhere warm and sunny this winter, like Ireland.laugh

Hi Kid wave

Ireland? You have just described our weather here, well, except for the cold. we don't get that cold, but it is dark early and windy and rainy. We do have a lot of ways of coping with it though, mostly invoving the pub and other entertainment and visiting each other. hug

Do like the Eskimos do ..... get yourself a nice fat cosy woman to snuggle up with ........ At least, maybe you could enliven the scenario with a nice log fire and fur rugs.....? Man was not designed to work outdoors in freezing howling snow winds - You must be doing something wrong..........confused grin

Hi Smokywave

One thing about this crap weather is I get to spend more time indoors and write to people I haven't had the chance to for a while.

waveHi Kid! Yes, one has to just learn to go with the flow!

Here, we getting long dark, cold, misty mornings with drizzle - But at midday the sun comes out and the mist dries up - Afternoons are glorious! The forests are all shades of gold/red/orange......

Then the weak sun begins to vanish - we light the fires - and fill the hot-water bottles.

Going to be interesting to see how long / harsh this winter is going to be...? By February the body is craving the sun again, and tempers get frayed.....!

The darkness is what kills me. We have really short days here in Sweden from November to January. If I don't work out, I go completely mental. There are all sorts of remedies to offset sad (seasonal affective disorder), use them cause they help.

Conrad73: Cabin-Fever?

Yes .. Cabin Fever! Then ... one day ... when the sun is shining everyone is smiling and friendly again!

Before that, everyone just hurries around with lowered heads and nobody greets!

We have very mild winters here in Malta... temperatures are generally between 10 and 15 degrees centigrades and its very rare that we have rains for days on end...
