Once upon a time there was a cat that thought it was a story! Yes you may find that strange to believe but assure you there was, and it was also not without good reason, because this cat thought she was a book!
The cat was originally a birthday present for little Samantha who was 8 at the time, but as we all know there are those who quickly forget when something new and shiny comes along to attract their attention.
Well now it was Samantha’s 11th birthday party and our little cat was forgotten about, and with sadness in her eyes, she watched everybody having fun, and with saddness in her eyes counted the new present being placed on the big table.
Eventually our little cat could take no more and left to go outside with tears in her eyes, and it was not long after she went outside that she bumped into dog!!
Hello said that dog what are you looking so miserable about! The little cat looked up and said .. Nobody will read me!! The dog laughed and said you’re a cat and not a book, let me show you – I will chase you & then the dog just left.
The little cat was not pleased about this humor and walked on until she bumped into a lamp post. The lamppost looked annoyed and said – Hey do you mind! The little cat apologized & asked if he could read her and the lamppost just laughed, and almost dropped his light bulb in the process!
Our poor friend ran away from the lamppost and cried her eyes out, and then as she started wiping her tears away, she saw another cat approaching her dressed as Napoleon! The cat looking like Napoleon asked.. Madam av U zeen mijn army coz eye zeem to beee lost!!!! No our little cat replied but if you like you can read me!! The cat looking like Napoleon waved his paw in the air and said Madan U ar craazey, and pleez moov out of ze way I must vind mijn army!!
By now are little cat had enough and just ran as fast as she could to find a place to be alone. Eventually she stopped because the tears in her eye prevented her from seeing where she was going. It was then she caught a scent in her nose, and it made her think about faint memories, and since cats are curious by nature, she decided to follow it.
It was not long she came to a doorway, and quite naturally she walked through only to be astonished by what she saw. There before her eyes were hundreds and hundreds of books, all in nice rows and covers of shiny bright colors. Yes she had found herself in the local public library.
Our little cat immediately felt at home, and each book was like a personal friend to her, and her love stretched out to every title she could see. In the far corner of the library she saw a shelf with a nice cozy space between two big encyclopedias, and without hesitation jumped up , nestled down and quickly fell asleep with her friends that understood & guarded her.
As she was asleep it was natural for her not to be unaware of a little girl in a bright red coat walk into the library with her mother. It was also natural for her not to notice the little girl in the bright red coat pick her gently up, so she could be taken home to be read.
And there ends the story of our friend who was recognized for who she was, and every page that was read was followed by a new chapter to be enjoyed. The end.
If you were a book, then what one would you like to be?
